Adam Cole Takes Out Finn Balor, Turns On Kyle O’Reilly To End NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day

Adam Cole TakeOver Vengeance Day

On Sunday night following the main event of NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, Adam Cole laid out both NXT Champion Finn Balor and Undisputed Era member Kyle O’Reilly with superkicks to close the show. It came as a shock as the show seemed to be going off the air with The Undisputed Era and Balor standing strong, but Cole clearly was sick of his spotlight being taken up.

Here are the images below:

All of this came after a grueling main event between Balor and challenger Pete Dunne for the NXT Championship. Following the win, Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan attacked Balor from behind, prompting the group to come out and even the odds. This wasn’t the first time it happened either, as they have in weeks past in the build-up to the event. What had become clear at least until Sunday night was that O’Reilly was getting his buddies to help out, as evidence by the growing respect between him and Balor. After aiding Balor yet again, Cole was done taking a back seat to not only the champion but his own groupmate as well.

If the past has told us anything, this was something to expect as Cole and O’Reilly have never always been on the same page in their wrestling careers. And even more so, the past has told us that sharing the spotlight is not something the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history likes to do.

There’s still a lot to be established as to whether where The Undisputed Era stands and what’s next in terms of Balor’s title defenses, but we do know Adam Cole is trying to jump straight back to the top. This time, no one will be in his way.
