Mercedes Martinez Returns To NXT, Attacks Io Shirai

Mercedes Martinez

Mercedes Martinez has returned to NXT in a major way, attacking the NXT Women’s Champion, Io Shirai, and leaving her down and out. Martinez threw Shirai around like nothing before ultimately throwing her through the bottom of the announce table, creating a scene that you have to see to believe. Here is the footage of what went down:

On Wednesday night, Toni Storm threatened Shirai that she will defeat her for the NXT Women’s Championship, and that should be her biggest concern. After all, it is Storm who defeated Shirai in the finals of the second Mae Young Classic. As far as Storm is concerned, she is the one that will be taking the title from Shirai in due time. That prompted the “Joshi Judas” to run down to the ring and call her out. Unfortunately for Shirai, that was not who met her there, but instead, it was the returning Martinez.

Just when you thought the women’s division couldn’t get better in NXT, Martinez returns to stake her claim. The last time we saw Martinez was back on NXT Super Tuesday, where she lost to Rhea Ripley inside a Steel Cage. She was then supposed to debut as a part of RETRIBUTION on Monday Night Raw but was eventually removed from the group. Now, she’s back on the black and gold brand.

Martinez left Shirai down and out, forcing the WWE Universe to ask themselves a number of questions. Are Martinez and Storm in cahoots? Or was this Martinez calling next for the NXT Women’s Championship instead? Time will tell all, but what we do know is that Mercedes Martinez is back and ready to bring the pain to the rest of the NXT women’s division.
