Preview: AEW – Saturday Night Dynamite (8/22/20)

AEW Saturday Night Dynamite

AEW has been pre-empted due to the return of sports to television so we get the first-ever episode of AEW Saturday Night Dynamite! Despite not being in its usual slot the company has loaded up the card with a number of top matches as we continue the build for All Out.

AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament Final – Nightmare Sisters (Brandi Rhodes & Allie) vs Diamante & Ivelisse

Fans have seen this tournament play out on YouTube as eight teams competed to be the first-ever winners of the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament.  In the finals we have the Nightmare Sisters who have unfairly won their way to the final taking on the newcomers of Diamante and Ivelisse.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs Private Party (Isaiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

FTR have come into AEW with the goal of proving they’re the best team in the world, not only that but they want to prove that their style of wrestling is the best one.  Private Party are the antithesis of FTR with their high flying and innovation going against everything FTR claim to stand for.  FTR will go in as favorites but let’s not forget that Private Party do own as win over the Young Bucks.

Darby Allin in action

Allin returns to action for the first time since losing to Jon Moxley.  Allin will reset himself and aim to climb the ladder once again by picking up some wins

Orange Cassidy InterviewAEW Saturday Night Dynamite

Coming off the biggest win of his career Orange Cassidy has his first ever in-ring interview.  He showed recently that he can in fact talk pretty well as he beat Chris Jericho in their debate before also winning their rematch.  Now Cassidy will be interviewed, maybe we find out whats next for the sloth-like performer.  Jericho may not be far away though as he can’t be taking his defeat well.

The Elite (Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson) vs Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Alan V Angels and John Silver)

The Dark Order defeated The Elite recently in a huge twelve-man tag team match with Brodie Lee securing the win for his side.  Now the three members of The Elite with the most experience teaming together will collide with the Dark Order in an attempt to get their win back

MJF Update

Last week MJF suffered an ass whooping at the hands of Jon Moxley.  MJF has been playing up a hurt neck after being hit with the Paradigm Shift so expect him to play up this injury to annoy Moxley further.

TNT Championship – Cody(C) W/Arn Anderson vs Mr. Brodie Lee

AEW Saturday Night Dynamite

As mentioned earlier Brodie Lee came away with the win in a recent match against The Elite, he pinned Hangman Page.  Now he sets his sights on the only elite member not involved in that match, the TNT Champion Cody.  Cody has been unstoppable as TNT Champion defeating everyone that’s come after him but he runs into a formidable opponent in Brodie Lee.  Despite losing to Jon Moxley, Lee has been a force to be reckoned with in AEW and a win here would do a lot of good for the “exalted one”.

Programming note: Next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite will air on August 27th instead of August 26th, due to TNT airing the NBA playoffs. Another episode in September is also being pre-empted. Make sure to set your DVR in order not to miss any of the action!
