Preview: WWE – Monday Night Raw “Championship Monday” (6/22/20)

Monday Night RAW

Monday Night RAW presents “Championship Monday” with there currently being FOUR title matches announced before the show.  As well as that Ric Flair will be on the show to crown Randy Orton as the greatest wrestler ever.

WWE 24/7 Championship: R-Truth (C) vs Akira Tozawa

Monday Night RAW

Akira Tozawa, ninjas in tow, made it clear he wanted R-Truth’s 24/7 7-eleven I-95 European television championship.  Tozawa has suddenly jumped back into the limelight following his adopting of this new ninja gimmick and chasing the 24/7 championship will allow him to take part in some wacky fun.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Bayley & Sasha Banks (C) vs The Iiconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce)

Since winning the women’s tag team titles Banks and Bayley have taken on all comers and even defended the titles in NXT.  They now take on the Iiconics who are intent on becoming two-time champions following their return from a long spell off of television.  With there being so few teams in this division it’s easy to see Bayley and Banks dropping the titles here as they already put Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross in the rearview but they are two of the best going right now so we may see them hold on to these titles for some time.

Rey Mysterio Returns To RAW

Monday Night RAW

Rey Mysterio has not been at RAW for many weeks due to the heinous assault Seth Rollins inflicted upon him.  Last week Mysterio’s son Dominik got a measure of revenge on the “Monday Night Messiah” and this week Mysterio will be there.  Rollins is sure to be nearby no matter what Mysterio gets up to as one of RAW’s best storylines continues.

RAW Tag Team Championships: Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) (C) vs Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)

For weeks these teams competed in various events to prove who was better.  Their series is currently a draw at 2-2 so they decided to have the tiebreaker in the ring at Backlash. That never happened as they were set upon by Tozawa and his ninjas which led to both teams uniting to take down the ninjas.  With the ninjas behind them the two teams will now collide (hopefully) to prove who is the best on this championship monday edition of Monday Night RAW.

Ric Flair To Declare Randy Orton The Best Wrestler Of All Time

During a commercial that aired on SmackDown it was confirmed that Flair would be in attendance to crown Orton as the best of all time.  This follows Orton’s victory in THE GREATEST WRESTLING MATCH EVER against Edge.  The two former Evolution members schemed last week to send Edge’s lifelong best friend Christian packing with a low blow from Flair leading to a punt kick by Orton.  Now the two are getting braggadocious and based on comments made by The Big Show on Raw Talk we may see the giant try and shut up Orton and Flair.

RAW Women’s Championship: Asuka (C) vs Charlotte Flair

Monday Night RAW

Asuka has had a target on her back ever since taking the women’s title from Becky Lynch.  Her issues with Nia Jax are far from over but she has to set her sights on perennial winner Charlotte Flair here who holds a recent victory over Asuka.  It’s likely we see Jax insert herself into this match and we may very well have a triple threat match at Extreme Rules to deal with the women’s title picture on RAW.

Not Announced But Expected

– Will Apollo Crews join MVP

– What’s next for Zelina Vega and her dysfunctional crew

– Bobby Lashley is clearly not done with Drew McIntyre

– Is Liv Morgan still finding herself?
