On June 2, the world of lucha libre lost another member of its community as Dragon Chino II passed away. According to SuperLuchas.com, his passing is related to complications from COVID-19. He was 55 years old.

Alejandro Gómez Barrientos was born in Veracuz, Mexico in 1965 and made his professional wrestling debut in 1979, trained by Blue Panther and Herod. Originally competing as Mago Minox, it would be as part of the martial arts-inspired tag team Los Dragones Chinos in Mexico’s Universal Wrestling Association (UWA) that he would find his greatest success, where he competed as Dragon Chino II. Together the duo would also work in Japan, working for Gran Hamada‘s Federacion Universal De Lucha Libre (FULL) in the early 1990s. In 1985, the duo won the Azteca World Wrestling Association (AWWA) Tag Team Championships. Though mostly inactive in recent years, he still made appearances as an ambassador for lucha libre throughout Mexico. His partner, Dragon Chino I, would go on to find future success as Pentagón III from 2001 to 2004.
