With so much being up in the air, tonight’s episode will at least paint a better picture of what’s to come for the black and gold brand. There’s not much to add on here, so let’s dive in to NXT!
NXT Recap (3/25/20)
TYLER BREEZE SCORES BIG WIN OVER RISING STAR AUSTIN THEORY
Austin Theory set out to prove he was the future of the business and not another flash in the an as Tyler Breeze suggested. Theory was dominant throughout most of the match, using his strength advantage to keep an edge against the veteran. Breeze had his moments, but it seemed the rising Theory would be just too much.
Despite having Breeze on the ropes, Theory’s arrogance would be the turning point of the match. Taunting “Prince Pretty” with a phone in hand, Breeze would recover and nail “The Beauty Shot” to score the impressive win.

Aliyah and Xia Li were set to meet to settle a feud that started after Li legitimately broke Aliyah’s nose. Those plans came to a halt when Li was found in the back holding an injured knee. The arrogant Aliyah was expected to be named the winner by forfeit. However, she would receive a new opponent, in the form of a returning Io Shirai.
The contest was short, as Shirai made a dominant return picking up the win with a moonsault. With the win, Shirai earned a spot in the number one contender’s ladder match.
CANDICE LERAE EARNS SPOT IN NUMBER ONE CONTENDER’S MATCH
Candice LeRae and Kayden Carter, two of the most athletic women in the division, faced off for a spot in the number one contender’s ladder match. The similar styles of these two women made for an almost break-even contest, as neither was able to string any significant moves together early on.
The always impressive Carter looked like she might pull out the upset a few times. Unfortunately for Carter, it was not meant to be, as LeRae locked in the “Gargano Escape” to force the tap.
MATT RIDDLE SCORES WIN OVER STRONG AND IS BLINDSIDED BY A NEW THREAT
Matt Riddle looked to score another win against The Undisputed Era, this time against Roderick Strong. These two are incapable of having a bad match with each other, this was only hurt by the lack of energy from the crowd.
Riddle ultimately picked up the win but was immediately assaulted by the debuting Rinku Singh & Saurav Gurjar. After Riddler was thoroughly beaten down, Malcolm Bivens made his way to the ring. He spoke of how Riddle was now face to face with the newest threat in the tag team division. The segment closes with the three standing tall over a fallen Riddle.
