Report: WrestleMania 36 Could Air On FOX Or ESPN

WWE WrestleMania 36

A source has told us that offers have been made by both ESPN and Fox to air WrestleMania 36.  With every major sport either postponing or suspending their season channels like ESPN are desperate for first-run “live” content and it’s no surprise that they are attempting to get the two-night extravaganza of WrestleMania which would provide them with several hours of content.  This rumour follows on from the speculation that the WWE were open to selling their PPV rights that surfaced following their most recent earnings report.

It’s interesting to note that ESPN recently announced they would be airing classic WrestleMania’s in the leadup to the show itself.  This could be their method of testing the waters to weigh up interest but could also be a sign that they feel confident they’ll get the rights to air the show.

What’s clear is that WWE’s decision to go ahead with WrestleMania 36 amidst calls to postpone the event could be the correct business decision as they are now the only major sporting entity still generating new content, and as we all know by now content is a desired commodity by broadcasters.
