Bálor and Lashley will look to put an end to a grudge that has it’s roots in November of last year when Lashley along with Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre made life hell for the babyfaces on RAW. Ever since then these two have not liked each other one bit.
Bobby Lashley, with hype man Lio Rush in tow, won the Intercontinental Championship back in January in a triple threat match featuring Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. Lio Rush would then get pinned at Elimination Chamber to lose Lashley’s IC Championship to Bálor.
This lead to a period of turmoil for The Almighty Lashley and Rush where Lashley felt he was done with Rush. Rush was forced to try his hardest to get back Lashley’s IC title for him as an apology. On the March 11th edition of RAW Lashley faced Bálor for the Championship and thanks to Rush’s interference won back the title.
The next week Bálor got a measure of revenge when he teamed with Braun Strowman to face Rush and Lashley in tag team competition and emerged victorious. A match was then made for RAW the next week, another handicap match as Lashley and Rush were scheduled to face Bálor with the caveat that if Bálor won he would get a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship. Lashley stacked the deck against Bálor at the last minute by replacing Rush with former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. In a brave display, Bálor defied the odds and won the match making the rematch official.
For months now these two men have been a thorn in each other’s side and have done battle multiple times over the Intercontinental Championship. At WrestleMania, they do it all one more time as Bálor gets a second chance in a row to leave Mania as Intercontinental Champion. On the go home RAW before WrestleMania Bobby and Lio learned that they had poked the bear one too many times as Bálor would be unleashing the Demon.
Prediction: The Demon is undefeated on main roster WWE and is one of the most protected gimmicks they have. Lashley may have bitten off more than he can chew by summoning the Demon and he will pay with his IC Championship.
