Luchadore legend Rey Mysterio looks to defy the odds once more as he takes on the monstrous Samoa Joe. Joe and Mysterio have been involved in SmackdownLive‘s main event scene for months now and have crossed paths in various multi man matches. In March the two began competing over the United States Championship as they were two of three people to answer R-Truth‘s open challenge. Samoa Joe would emerge victorious from this fatal four way match as he captured his first main roster Championship in the WWE by pinning Andrade.
A rematch of the fatal four way was made for WWE Fastlane as Joe once again emerged victorious as he choked Mysterio out in the Coquina Clutch. On March 12th Rey Mysterio teamed with Truth to face Andrade and Joe. Mysterio shocked Joe by picking up the win in the match, which made Joe very, very mad.
The next week on SDLive Mysterio announced he would be facing Joe at WrestleMania for the United States Championship and has promised to defeat the “bully” Samoa Joe. Joe is a very angry monster on a good day but following surprise defeats to Mysterio and Kurt Angle will be looking to take out some of his frustrations on WWE’s biggest little man.
Prediction: While Mysterio is a WWE legend and would deserve one last WrestleMania moment we will probably see Samoa Joe walk out of this one with the championship.
