The Executive Vice President of AEW, “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes was present at Saturday night’s Rey De Reyes to make the announcement official that All Elite Wrestling and AAA Lucha Libre were entering a partnership. Hugo Saninovich interviewed Cody and translated for the AAA audience. Cody made the comment that he wants stars like Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho to compete at AAA Lucha Libre. He also made the announcement that moving forward, Hugo would be the official Spanish Correspondent for AEW.

An ecstatic Hugo and crowd would be interrupted by Los Mercenarios, led by Konnan. Konnan, as you would imagine, did not have anything nice to say to Cody, telling him that anytime he wants to make an announcement, he needs to consult with Konnan. Konnan also volunteered Taurus for a future match with Cody, which Cody accepted so long as that match could happen in Mexico for AAA. Konnan would continue to berate Cody, which led to Cody exercising his corporate muscle and calling Konnan a lowly employee of AAA while Cody is the Executive Vice President of AEW.

This led Los Mercenarios to jump an injured Cody, who was on hand with the customized walking cane that Brandi presented to him earlier this on an episode of “Double Or Nothing”. Luckily, Psycho Clown and company came down to help Cody and cleared the ring of Konnan and Los Mercenarios. Cody will be back at AAA Triplemania XXVII which airs on August 3rd, 2019. It will be interesting to see what happens between now and then between Cody and Konnan, and if the two meet each other again.
