Glory Pro Wrestling may be located in Illinois, but it’s southern positioning and talent base straddles a fine (and fun) line between Midwest wrestling and the burgeoning Southern scene. Glory Pro returns this Sunday for their second-anniversary show, Phoenix Rising, that’s chock-full of some new faces joining the Glory Pro roster. It streams live this Sunday on IndependentWrestling.tv.
Hakim Zane vs. Shane Sabre
Hakim Zane is one of the top indie stars out of the Michigan indie scene, who made his Glory Pro debut back in 2017. If he looks familiar, that’s because he’s also been a part of IMPACT Wrestling since 2017, where he competes as Rohit Raju in the Desi Hit Squad. A 2x Xtreme Intense Championship Wrestling (XICW) Midwest Heavyweight Champion in Detroit, Zane is more impressive in this persona than his IMPACT alter ego. He goes one on one with a rising Canadian indie star who is having greater success in the US scene of late. Shane Sabre is a tag team partner with fellow Canuck Space Monkey in the Space Pirates, as well as competing in singles for Glory Pro, Black Label Pro (BLP) and Freelance amongst others. Should be an exciting contest. He’s also a regular with Canadian indies like Alpha-1, Smash Wrestling, and Superkick’D.
Halal Beefcake (Idris Abraham & Joe Coleman) vs. Aaron Orion & Barackus vs. Alpha Omega (Camaro Jackson & Kenny Alfonso)
Halal Beefcake (Idris Abraham & Joe Coleman) recently won the Smash Tag Team Championships in Toronto and they make their Glory Pro debut this Sunday in a big tag team triple threat. Aaron Orion is still making a name for himself in Glory Pro after debuting last year, but the Michigan veteran is a beast. He is pairing with another Midwest veteran in Barackus, who could prove to be a powerhouse tandem down the road. Alpha Omega is a hot young tag team that made their Glory Pro debuts last year, and the current reigning Proving Ground Pro Tag Team Champions will be looking for a break out year in 2019. Three new teams for Glory Pro, each looking to make a mark and inch closer to The Besties in the World‘s United Glory Tag Team titles.
4 Star Heroes (Chris Castro & Matt Knicks) vs. #NoNewFriends (Mike Outlaw & Danny Adams)
4 Star Heroes have been a dominant Midwest tag team for seven years now, working primarily with Freelance Wrestling, where they held the FW Tag Team titles for 182 days. They made their EVOLVE Wrestling debut last year and make their Glory Pro debut this Sunday. They face a stable that is well known in Glory Pro in #NoNewFriends, who have been flirting with the Glory Pro tag team titles for the past year. Two very credible tag teams that could be competing to become the next #1 contenders to the tag team titles.
AJ Gray vs. O’Shay Edwards vs. “Warhorse” Jake Parnell vs. Jake Something
A huge four-way match featuring some of the top young stars in the Midwest and Southern scenes. AJ Gray hails from Tennessee, and while he’s toiled in Southern indies like Pro Wrestling Freedom, Southern Underground Pro (SUP), and ACTION Wrestling, he’s also been making a name in the Midwest with Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW) and IWA Mid South. O’Shay Edwards is a powerhouse on the indie scene who is only getting better with each match. “Warhorse” Jake Parnell is one of 2019’s top prospects to watch for a national breakout, having just won the BLP Indiana State Championship. Rounding out the four is a former Crown of Glory Champion in Michigan’s Jake Something, who is also a regular with All American Wrestling (AAW) amongst others.
Seishin vs. Su Yung
Seishin is the mysterious alter ego of a hot newcomer also known as Tootie Lynn Ramsey, who has been making waves in the Midwest in IWA Mid South. She’s going to have a workout on Sunday as she faces former IMPACT Knockouts Champion Su Yung in singles competition.
2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match: Eddie Kingston vs. Paco
Eddie Kingston is a 17-year pro who has defined toughness throughout his career. The first ever CHIKARA Grand Champion (for a record 924-days) has taken his mercenary brand of brutality across the US, where he’s been a former Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) World Heavyweight Champion, IWA Mid South Heavyweight Champion, and 2x AAW Heavyweight Champion. Paco is breaking out as another top prospect from the Midwest, competing for AAW, Freelance, St. Louis Anarchy and more. These two have been feuding for a while now and this rubber match will be a best 2-out-of-3 falls match to settle the score once and for all.
Glory Pro United Glory Tag Team Championship: Besties in the World (Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett) (c) vs. Stephen Wolf & Myron Reed
The Besties in the World continue to prove themselves as one of the absolute best tag teams of the US indie scene of the past decade, who are in their second reign as Glory Pro tag team champions. They’re also former 2x AAW Tag Team Champions and 2x Wrestling Revolver Tag Team Champions and are returning from a huge tour in the UK, where they competed for Revolution Pro (RevPro) and Over The Top (OTT) Wrestling. On Sunday, they have a rematch against the high flying tandem of Stephen Wolf & Myron Reed, the duo that the Besties just beat for the titles in a triple threat last month. Wolf & Reed will hope that a straight up tag match will even the odds and they can recapture the titles they recently lost.
Glory Pro Crown of Glory Championship: Curt Stallion (c) vs. Jody Fleisch
Texas indie sensation Curt Stallion has had a huge past year, emerging from the Texas indies to become more of a national presence, competing for Ring of Honor, EVOLVE, Beyond Wrestling, AAW and much more. He’s the reigning Crown of Glory Champion and on Sunday he puts it on the line in an international challenge match against a UK legend in Jody Fleisch. Jody Fleisch is a 23-year veteran of the UK indie scene, having competed for the likes of RevPro, PROGRESS, IPW:UK, Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), Preston City Wrestling (PCW) and many more.
