NXT Releases Nick Miller and Tucker, Taishan Dong Quits

Nick Miller, formerly of The Mighty has been released from NXT.  It is unclear exactly what occurred as some sources say he asked for a release and others claim he was cut.  Tucker has been let go from NXT UK.  Neither has been particularly successful on their brand as Miller was mostly used in a heel tag team that more often than not put babyface teams over on their way to a feud with Undisputed Era.  Tucker was a competitor in the first two NXT UK tournaments.  Losing to eventual winner Tyler Bate in the first round of the first tournament and losing to Joe Coffey in the first round of 2018’s edition.  A more unknown name Taishan Dong has recently quit.

Miller came into NXT alongside Shane Thorne with a lot of hype.  Members of The Mighty Don’t Kneel faction in Australia and regulars for Pro Wrestling NOAH they came into NXT with a reputation for being a really talented tag team.  Their NXT tenure as TM 61 was unsuccessful as an injury to Thorne sucked away all of their momentum and when they returned they were nothing more than a mid-card team.  A heel turn and rebranding as The Mighty did not make them any more successful.  With Jonah Rock heavily rumored to be joining the WWE, 2Miller, who will probably return to Mike Nicholls, could rejoin the faction that once made him so popular and help the blooming Australian wrestling scene.  A former 2x GHC Tag Team Champion and multiple time champion in EPW (Explosive Pro Wrestling), we have no doubt Miller will rebound well from this and find success on the independent scene like other NXT alumni Kimber Lee.

Tucker was brought in with the first wave of NXT UK signees and has mostly been used as enhancement talent on the new NXT UK show.  A star in Northern Ireland Tucker is a high flier that regularly wows audiences at Pro Wrestling Ulster (PWU)Uprising Wrestling and Over The Top (OTT) Wrestling shows in Belfast.  The current ace in waiting for Courage Wrestling,Tucker is set to use his tenure in NXT UK to continue building the wrestling scene in Northern Ireland.  A former Irish Junior Heavyweight champion, multi-time PWU Champion and the most over performer in Belfast, Tucker will continue his great work despite his release.

A 7-foot tall boxer from China, it is clear that WWE was high on Dong.  With his size and reputation in China, he could have helped the WWE’s attempted expansion into China.  He signed in July but has recently quit.
