Preview: OTT Fourth Year Anniversary (10/13/18)

Over The Top (OTT) Wrestling celebrates turning four years old with the most stacked card in company history and one of the most stacked cards you will see anywhere this year.  Their return to the National Stadium sees OTT welcome back Shane StricklandKUSHIDAMinoru SuzukiWill Ospreay and Tomohiro Ishii.  We will also see the debut of Bandido, FlamitaLos Ingobernables De Japon (EVIL, SANADA & Tetsuya Naito)Satoshi KojimaRocky Romero and Hirooki Goto.  Tonnes of action and amazing matches to come at OTT Fourth Year Anniversary.

Match 1: Sean Guinness & Hirooki Goto vs Satoshi Kojima & Michael May

Photo: OTT

Bread Club comes to Dublin as one of the New Japan dads makes his Irish debut, as Satoshi Kojima teams with the young technician Michael May.  May has shown more fighting spirit than any of the other Contenders and fits right in with three wrestlers who have competed in Japan already.  Young May can take the punishment for Kojima and allow Koji to get his signature stuff in.  They face a formidable duo of Sean Guinness and Hirooki Goto.  Goto has one of the most vicious looking movesets in wrestling and is consistently one of the top performers in New Japan.  Guinness can function as the Junior for Goto and will fly around the ring and get into some stiff exchanges with Michael and Kojima.

Match 2: Scotty Davis vs Mark Davis

Photo: OTT

After beating down the beloved Club Tropicana and turning heel, Mark Davis has been talking down to the Contenders.  He claimed that everyone to ever come from the brand is a joke.  One of the figureheads of the Contenders, emerging Irish star Scotty Davis took umbrage with this and reminded Mark that he took Mark to suplex city when Scotty and Jordan Devlin defeated Aussie Open last year.  Young Scotty is representing his brand against someone who is looking down on Irish talent.

Match 3: Angel Cruzers (Angel Cruz & B. Cool) & ??? vs The Gymnasties (Justin Shape, Sammy D & Liam Royal)

Photo: OTT

Due to circumstances to do with outside factors, we have been waiting one year for this match.  B Cool finally tries to get his revenge on Shape and Sammy for turning on him.  Silver linings for Cool had his two former partners not turned out to be utter bolloxes then we may never have got the Angel Cruzers.  Angel has been extremely protective of Cool and has murdered Logan Bryce (he thought it was Justy) for him.  The new and improved Nasties have a determined Justy, a ruthless and calculating Sammy D and the Stonch big man Liam Royal.  In the new trios debut they made quick work of The Lads From The Flats and look formidable.  As usual, the X-factor could be the mystery partner – we currently have no indication who it might be but the Cruzers have had some big mystery partners in the past, including the likes of Pete Dunne.  Whoever it is, these six will go to war as B Cool looks to put the last 2 years of betrayal and pain behind him with Angel Cruz by his side.

Match 4: KUSHIDA vs Tomohiro Ishii

Photo: OTT

OTT put out a hype video that put this match in context.  The Junior Heavyweight Division’s Ace KUSHIDA looks to break down the barriers of the two divisions as he faces one of the gatekeepers of the heavyweight division in Tomohiro Ishii.  Based on the names alone, this is a dream match for Japanese wrestling fans and is the very first time they will ever face off 1 on 1.  There is a clash of styles as KUSHIDA uses his MMA background to best utilize his submissions and can use his agility to get the better of Ishii.  Ishii is an old school strong style kind of guy who would rather take punishment than use speed to evade or dodge his opponents.  It will be interesting to see the implications of this match as a Junior faces a Heavy in a dream match.

Match 5: Gender Neutral Championship: LJ Cleary (c) vs Paddy M vs Raven Creed vs Rocky Romero vs “Mr. Juicy” Gino Gambino

Gender Neutral Champion LJ CLeary has promised before to take on all comers and at the 4th Year Anniversary he will need to put his money where his mouth is.  The champion Cleary has made an impressive step up from contenders over the past year after beating Session Moth Martina to win the title, defending it against the likes of TK Cooper, Rickey Shane Page and Joey Janela.  One of his opponents is another former Contender as Raven Creed earned her shot by defeating Katey Harvey at Fan Appreciation Night.  Veteran of the Irish Wrestling scene, Paddy M has a chance to win OTT gold for the first time.  Gino Gambino makes his OTT debut and the first Australian member of the Bullet Club has won every title there is in Melbourne City Wrestling and will be looking to impress on this tour to make the jump to main New Japan shows.  The final member is veteran Rocky Romero, leader of Roppongi 3K, multi time IWGP Junior Heavyweight tag team champion and a highly respected in ring performer.  Whoever walks out of this match with the title will have earned it with the amount of talent in this match.

Match 6: Minoru Suzuki vs Timothy Thatcher

Photo: OTT

This one will not be pretty.  If you are into your dry Puroresu then this is for you.  Murderous Minoru Suzuki will take great pleasure in trading stiff hits with Timothy Thatcher.  Thatcher and Suzuki are affluent in shoot fight styles, so we may see a mix of MMA in this one in between the two slapping the hell out of each other.  Two highly decorated individuals as Thatcher is a former wXw tag team champion as part of Ringkampf, the longest reigning EVOLVE Champion in history and a member of Shadenfreude in Fight Club: PRO.  He takes on a former IWGP Intercontinental Champion, current double champion in RevPro, former 2x All Japan Triple Crown Champion and a former GHC Heavyweight Champion in Pro Wrestling NOAH.  Two decorated champions are going to stiff the hell out of each other in the National Stadium.

Match 7: OTT Tag Team Championships: Kings Of The North (Bonesaw, Dunkan Disorderly & Damian Corvin) (c) vs More Than Hype (Darren Kearney & Nathan Martin)

Photo: OTT

Coming off the biggest win, and best match, of their career against the legendary Meiko Satomura and one of the worlds best tag teams The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz), More Than Hype suffered a brutal attack from the Kings Of The North.  With an aggression we haven’t seen from the Kings in years, they tied up Cleary and Kearney and forced them to watch as they destroyed Nathan Martin’s knee.  The Kings short lived face turn to defend OTT has come back to bite OTT, as the Kings now feel that it takes three Englishmen to defend what the Irish teams couldn’t.  What this will do will only rile up the psycho and the handsome one who have gone through hell before in a fatal four way three stages of hell elimination match (yes that’s a real match) where they outlasted three other teams and unbelievable punishment to win the Irish Tag Team Championships.  MTH when determined will take whatever punishment dished out to prove they are the best.  With the Kings Of The North making this personal the bleh bois will want revenge, they will want to prove themselves, and they will want to unseat the Kings and take their place at the apex of OTT’s Tag Team Division.  Unseating the Kings is much easier said than done.  The trio have ruled the tag division for three years having beaten the likes of British Strong StyleWar Machine (War Raiders in NXT)The Rapture and every other tag team in OTT.

Match 8: MexiBlood (Bandido & Flamita) & Shane Strickland vs Los Ingobernables De Japon (EVIL, SANADA & Tetsuya Naito)

Photo: OTT

One of the most loaded matches OTT has ever had.  New Japan’s most popular faction, Los Ingobernables De Japon, comes to OTT for the first time ever.  LIJ brings former IWGP Heavyweight tag champions EVIL & SANADA who mix power and athleticism to form a formidable tag team.  And of course, we have the leader, the ungovernable one himself, Tetsuya Naito, who is one of the Big Four of New Japan Pro Wrestling.  Shane Strickland steps into an OTT ring again and is more than a match for Naito in the aloof and charismatic department.  He teams with the tag team that have taken 2018 by storm – Bandido and Flamita have wowed audiences all over the world with their unbelievable athletic displays.  A mix of Strickland with Bandido and Flamita is a highly athletic trio that can pull off some jaw-dropping stuff.  This six man has six elite-level workers, power vs speed and the potential for Naito and Strickland to face off.

OTT Championship: WALTER (c) vs Will Ospreay

Photo: OTT

Will Ospreay has not been shy with his words – HE WANTS THE OTT TITLE.  For months he made it known that he wanted to be the one to end Jordan Devlin’s import killer reign as champion.  While he was disappointed that WALTER has taken the title, he is still intent on winning the belt for the company he loves, as he wants to bring it to Wrestle Kingdom with him.  Ospreay has become a beloved figure in OTT ever since his first appearance.  A combination of his love for the promotion and the fact he gives 100% every time has gotten him over with the OTT faithful, which means he will be the hero against the invading monster WALTER.  WALTER has come into OTT like a freight train, as he debuted in June and won the title in August and has become a major heel.  Outside of the story of two big indie stars colliding, this is a meeting of two of the best in ring performers of 2018.  A main event worthy of the biggest show in Irish Wrestling history, as OTT celebrates its fourth birthday with this huge matchup
