CMLL Aniversario 85 Lineup Officially Announced: Rush Refuses to Sign Contract

In a charged press conference, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) officially announced their line up their 85th Anniversary show on September 14. The main story was the main event announcement coming in to the press conference. LA Park vs. Rush is the most desired match by fans in Mexico, so an announcement of anything else was going the create criticism for Aniversario 85.

CMLL brought first to the stage Ring of Honor (ROH) star Matt Taven and Volador Jr. Then, Rush and Barbaro Cavernario took the stage. CMLL announced that the main event for Aniversario 85 was Matt Taven & Volador Jr. vs. Rush & Barbaro Cavernario in a hair vs. hair match. Rush instantly refused to sign the contract for the match. Rush even told fans that “he was a man of his word”, knowing that Mexican fans wanted the mask vs. hair match against LA Park.

Adolfo Tapia (LA Park) went on twitter and talked about the announcement. Park told Rush to keep his promise and that, if he loses his mask in the main event of AAA‘s TripleMania XXVI, he would put his hair and even his career on the line in the main event of Aniversario 85. Many fans went on twitter disapproving the announcement. LA Park vs. Rush is still asked for and the current main event has been rejected by many fans on Twitter.
