Final Two MMA Horsewomen To Make NXT Debut, Showdown at Evolution?

The WWE has gotten some good mileage out of the first two MMA Four Horsewomen signed to the roster. The four women stable in MMA – featuring Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir – became media darlings in their MMA days, before Shayna Baszler made the first jump to professional wrestling in 2015. She went on to dominate the indie scene before signing with the WWE following last year’s Mae Young Classic, ultimately becoming the current and reigning NXT Women’s Champion. Ronda Rousey made her debut with WWE earlier this year, but on the main roster, and has so far had stand out matches, both at WrestleMania and at Money In The Bank. Earlier this May, it was announced that the remaining two members of the Four Horsewomen, Duke and Shafir, had signed with the WWE and reported to the Performance Center in Orlando to continue their pro wrestling training that had been started back in 2015 with Josh Barnett and WWE Superstar Natalya.

Today both confirmed their NXT Live Event debuts, which will be happening on the same night this Thursday in Largo, Florida.

The timing is interesting for two reasons. One, it means that either or both of them could be announced as entrants in this year’s Mae Young Classic, as there is still 18 spots left to be revealed. But another angle is due to Stephanie McMahon’s announcement on Monday of the first WWE all-women PPV, WWE Evolution, this October.

According to No Holds Barred podcast, the WWE is planning a huge angle for the historic PPV, that could finally see the long teased showdown between the MMA Four Horsewomen facing off against the WWE’s Four Horsewomen, consisting of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley. The two stables teased a confrontation at last year’s Mae Young Classic.
