Mexican superstar and crazy luchador Dragon Lee won last night’s All Pro Wrestling (APW)‘s King of the Indies tournament in California. The King of the Indies, or KOI, is a tournament originally established in 2000 by APW in California. The inaugural tournament was won by wrestling veteran Christopher Daniels.

In 2001, the tournament had a plethora of wrestlers and was easily one of the earliest super indie tournaments. It featured wrestlers that would later be part of Ring of Honor‘s first show, with superstars like Low Ki, Doug Williams, Samoa Joe, WWE Champion AJ Styles and the tournament winner that year, the GOAT himself, Daniel Bryan – Bryan Danielson in those times.
Yesterday, in a show co-promoted by APW and Pro Wrestling Revolution, Dragon Lee beat ROH star and Being The Elite regular Flip Gordon in the finals of the tournament. The tournament participants last night were Dragon Lee, Flip Gordon, Jeff Cobb, Titan, Jacob Fatu, Brody King, Timothy Thatcher and NJPW’s Ryusuke Taguchi.
Lee beat his former Tag Team partner in NJPW, Ryusuke Taguchi in the first round. In the semifinals beat Brody King and in the finals Flip Gordon. The latter, beat Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre regular Titan, then beat Jacob Fatu in the semifinals and ultimately loss to the eventual winner.
Dragon Lee has wrestled everywhere recently, having a schedule that included defending his CMLL Lightweight title against Luciferno on Saturday, on Sunday tagging with Caristico & Kraneo to beat La Peste Negra, on Tuesday tagging with Caristico & Mistico to beat Los Guerreros Laguneros, having three matches in yesterday’s KOI and todayreviving his amazing rivalry with Hiromu Takahashi for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship in NJPW’s G1 Special in the Cow Palace.
