But this time, it sounds like the third time was the charm.

The Wrestling Standard – a new wrestlings news site run by former Yahoo Sports, Bleacher Report and NY Post writer Harry Austen (who also ran PWStream on Twitter until starting The Wrestling Standard earlier this week) – citing sources within the WWE, has claimed that WWE and Rey have come to an agreement on a 2-year deal with the WWE to begin on August 1, which would mean he could make his debut shortly before this year’s SummerSlam.

Bodyslam.net, which has broken countless stories in the past, had mentioned earlier today that the delay in a new deal had to do with creative. WWE was hoping Rey would work as somewhat of a high profile enhancement star to help elevate new stars, but Rey was looking to help elevate the Lucha Libre culture in WWE and inspire more tradition and honor into the mask wearing stars of the WWE.
