WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in MSG just got a lot bigger, as Gunther protested on this week’s WWE SmackDown. Acting SmackDown General Manager Adam Pearce made it clear that Gunther made a huge mistake by attacking Nick Aldis, and he made it clear why he was doing the all-star tag team matches at WWE SNME.
Big Stipulation With SummerSlam 2026 Implications Set for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

On last week’s SmackDown, Gunther was livid after Nick Aldis “gave” him CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. Unfortunately, Gunther is going to team up with Sami Zayn at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event as they take on QB1 and the Undisputed WWE Champion in a main event tag match. Gunther viciously assaulted Aldis, and on this Friday’s SmackDown, he made it clear he did not regret it one bit.

Acting SmackDown and Current WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce stated that if he had only waited for just a bit more, he would’ve had his chance because Aldis was thinking of if Sami Zayn and Gunther won the WWE SNME tag match against Punk and Cody, they would be added to the SummerSlam 2026 main event for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
While that’s still the case, Gunther has already caused irreparable damage to Aldis, taking him out effectively.
