Mexican Duo Slated to Join WWE Soon

According to reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, luchadors Garza Jr and Ultimo Ninja, real life cousins and members of the legendary Garza family in Mexico, are undergoing final medical testing before signing with the WWE. Both cousins have been working as a tag team with The Crash Lucha in Mexico, holding the tag team titles for 161 days from the summer of 2016 until early 2017.

Garza Jr. is the most recognizable of the two, having appeared for Impact Wrestling for much of 2017, often teaming with Laredo Kid. The 24-year old grandson of Mario Segura (the brother in law of Humberto Garza), Garza Jr. has also worked for AAA, Lucha Underground, and various Mexican promotions, before branching into the US indie scene last year with the likes of AAW, MLW and PCW Ultra. Alongside his cousin Ultimo Ninja, the pair also worked for Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan.

Ultimo Ninja has been a regular with The Crash since 2016, and at 22-years old, has barely scratched the surface of his potential in the ring. The son of Humberto Garza Jr., he’s also the nephew of former CMLL and WCW Superstar Hector Garza. He made his US indie debut earlier this month, facing Garza Jr., with MLW. In late 2017, Ultimo Ninja also appeared on an episode of Impact Wrestling, facing X Division Champion Trevor Lee in a championship match from The Crash.

Both men are hovering between the 200-210 lbs range, which has lead many to speculate that Garza Jr and Ultimo Ninja may be getting signed for the emerging 205 Live tag team division, that is reportedly getting WWE Cruiserweight Tag Team titles following WrestleMania. 205 Live recently announced their first “official” tag team (rather than a simple alliance) in Hideo Itami and Akira Tozawa, which seems to be laying the foundation of the 205 Live/Cruiserweight Tag Team division.

The Garza family began with Humberto Garza, one of CMLL’s legendary luchadores who began his career in 1955. His brother in law, Mario Segura, who debuted in 1971 and also worked as El Ninja, was also an early family mentor in the luchador industry. Garza had two sons follow into the family trade, Humberto Garza Jr. (who debuted in 1993 and has worked for CMLL, AAA and others) and Hector Garza, who debuted in 1992 and became one of the most internationally famous of the Garza family, working for CMLL, AAA, WCW and in Japan with WAR and NJPW.
