Jade Cargill and Jordynne Grace’s Rivalry Intensifies on 1/16 WWE SmackDown

On January 9, 2026, episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Jordynne Grace made her electrifying main roster debut. After a tense confrontation with Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre, she had a great match with Fyre. Clearly showing her athleticism and wrestling ability, she got the attention of a prominent figure in the women’s division. WWE Women’s Champion Jade Gargill came out to confront her.

That confrontation, sadly, didn’t lead to any action. However, it was clear that Cargill had her eye on the newest member of the women’s division. With Grace having another match, it seemed extremely likely that Cargill would be watching her closely.

Cargill and Grace Have Another Confrontation

Grace had an undoubtedly impressive showing in her first match. But could she repeat that show of skill? On the January 16 SmackDown, she had a chance to do just that. This week, she was facing Green. During last week’s match, the two had a tense moment, leading to Grace pushing Fyre into Green and knocking her off the apron. She was definitely going into the match looking for some redemption against the woman who beat her friend.

However, things quickly got out of hand just like last week. Grace immediately came out of the gate with a flurry of offensive moves. She hit Green with the same back-to-back turnbuckle to the face shots that she gave Fyre last week. Right after, she hit a big clothesline, sending her to the ground.

Getting up meant her getting hit with forearm strikes and a suplex. After a Direct Effect, Grace was victorious, and Green was spared any more damage. When the match was over, she immediately turned her attention to Cargill, who was on the outside watching. Corey Graves and Joe Tessitore said that she wasn’t impressed with the victory, adding more fuel to their rivalry.

She said she was glad that Cargill came out to watch her match, making her intentions clear that she wanted a WWE Women’s Championship title match. But she didn’t want to wait, offering to get in the ring with her. They went face-to-face, but Green came running towards them. She hit Cargill while aiming for Grace, knocking her off the apron.

With the title still in the ring, Grace momentarily held it high above her head before tossing it back to Cargill. It is important to note that she won the title back in November. Since then, she hasn’t made any televised title defenses. Grace knows that, which is why she wants a title match so badly. When it does happen, it’s going to be a great match to watch.
