Stephanie Vaquer Refuses to Drop Title Due to Injury Before Being Viciously Attacked on Raw

Stephanie Vaquer’s injury, which she suffered in her most recent title defense, certainly seems like it could be pretty serious. While wrestler injuries are hard to gauge, given the worked nature of the business, this one seems real. Especially since WWE seems to have written her off following an absolutely vicious attack at the hands of Raquel Rodriguez.

might have been serious enough to lead to a title vacancy. And if it wasn’t, Raquel Rodriguez’s attack on Monday night certainly provided WWE a way to write Stephanie Vaquer off TV for a bit and perhaps even lead to a title change. That remains to be seen, but the seeds were certainly planted.

Raquel Rodriguez Attacks Stephanie Vaquer’s Injured Ankle

Stephanie Vaquer entered the ring for an interview with Jackie Redmond, wearing a boot on her injured ankle. Redmond asked Vaquer what was next, and Vaquer made sure to say she wasn’t going to let this injury stop her. She wanted to take on everyone in the back. As Vaquer lifted the title in celebration, she was blindsided by Rodriguez, who attacked her from behind. Rodriguez proceeded to bang Vaquer’s ankle into the mat repeatedly before flattening her with a Tejana Bomb. Ad Rodriguez got a chair from the timekeeper’s area, looking to take Vaquer out of action permanently. Adam Pearce and backstage agents broke things up. Rodriguez retreated but only briefly. After a commercial break, Vaquer was being helped to the back when Rodriguez attacked again, throwing Vaquer into production material and then to the ground. Pearce finally chased Rodriguez off, but the damage was ostensibly done.

WWE has not issued a statement one way or the other, but that sure seemed like a TV write-off. Time will tell if Stephanie Vaquer will need to vacate the title.
