Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Earns Golden Globe Nomination

Dwayne Johnson, better known as The Rock, reached a new milestone in his acting career when he was nominated for a Golden Globe in the drama category for his role as Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine. The nomination was announced on December 8, 2025, and he is one of six actors up for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. The 83rd Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 11, 2026.

This nomination marks an important step for Johnson as a dramatic actor and shows that he can take on serious, demanding roles.

The Stacked “Best Actor In Drama” Field

Johnson’s nomination puts him in a strong field of performers. The category also includes Joel Edgerton (Train Dreams), Oscar Isaac (Frankenstein), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent), and Jeremy Allen White (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere). Being included among such respected actors highlights the prestige of the nomination and the level of competition.
