WWE NXT brought its most recent live event to the hometown of CM Punk, Chicago. For a moment, the fans were given hope of a legendary return, only to experience the perfect bait-and-switch with Grayson Waller instead.
A Tweet That Deceived the Whole Arena
When “Cult of Personality” started playing, the entire arena erupted. The audience believed that The Best in the World was about to appear. But they quickly realized they had been tricked. One video circulating online shows the dramatic shift in the crowd’s reaction: loud cheers turned to disappointment when Grayson Waller walked out wearing a grey hoodie.
Waller did not stop there and openly mocked CM Punk with some of his signature gestures, including the famous “It’s clobberin’ time” pose and sitting cross-legged in the center of the ring. He took full advantage of performing in Punk’s hometown and made it clear that he is targeting the current World Heavyweight Champion.
A Potential Showdown Ahead?
CM Punk is currently on a collision course with Team Paul, along with The Vision, and his arch-nemesis, Drew McIntyre. The two will be on opposite sides at WarGames. However, Punk’s absence from the latest SmackDown left fans wondering what his next move will be.
At the same time, Punk now has major allies such as Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and the current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. With strong rivalries on both sides, the build-up to WarGames continues to create intrigue.
Some fans even speculate that Punk might align with Roman Reigns again, bringing back a partnership that once ended in chaos. This is especially interesting since Reigns still has unresolved issues with Paul Heyman.
