Since NXT was formerly NXT 2.0, Trick Williams has proven why he belongs in the WWE. From managing Carmelo Hayes to main-eventing NXT, he has displayed tremendous growth throughout his developmental career. Just this past NXT, he competed in a gruesome Last Man Standing Match against the current NXT Champion, Ricky Saints. Unfortunately, he suffered defeat in his attempt to regain the NXT gold. If this were his match, then this would be the perfect send-off for him to join either RAW or SmackDown.
Trick Williams’ NXT Journey
Williams is beyond ready to move up, due to achieving everything he wanted to do in his NXT run. His first big moment in NXT occurred when he defeated Dominik Mysterio to become the NXT North American Champion. Although he held the title for a week, it gave fans the idea of Williams going on his own path.
The next moment was much grander as he won the Iron Survivor Challenge, earning him his first opportunity at the NXT Championship. That win for Williams planted the seeds of him going on a singles run and breaking away from Carmelo Hayes. Fed up with Hayes’ jealousy and envy, Williams knew it was time to move on his own, finally.
Williams has proven he can go alone due to headlining numerous PLEs and going against NXT’s top stars. His rivalry with Hayes even closed out a PLE, which was huge since it wasn’t about the NXT Title. Shortly after, Williams won the NXT Championship from Ilja Dragunov. Not only has he grown as a wrestler, but as a person as well, receiving a massive reaction from the fans. Besides going on a quest to become tag team champions, there is honestly nothing left for the South Carolina native to achieve in NXT.
Trick Williams Should Make His Debut on SmackDown
Due to RAW having so much star power, it’s preferred for Trick Williams to make his mark on SmackDown. When Williams makes his main roster jump, there will be so many ideas that can come for him. If WWE wants to make Williams a massive star in the making, then they need to invest in him gradually. For instance, WWE should present vignettes of Williams promoting when he will debut on the blue brand.
To continue his heel persona, Williams can show his arrogance by delaying his debut week by week, giving the mentality that he is too good to make his sudden appearance for the fans.
When Trick Williams finally has his in-ring main roster debut, he can start by going against enhancement opponents before his first actual feud. Williams can show his cockiness persona to the fans by claiming he has no competition until SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis brings out a babyface to feud with Williams.
From there, he can work himself into the midcard scene before jumping into the main event level. Maybe he can feud with someone such as Damian Priest, who is already an established main event star. He may appear in the United States Championship Open Challenge against Ilja Dragunov, with whom he already has history back in NXT.
