CMLL Women’s Grand Prix 2025 Preview (10/24/25)

The CMLL Women’s Grand Prix is scheduled for October 24th, 2025, and will be hosted by Arena Mexico in Mexico City. The event sees two teams, Team Mexico and Team International, competing in an elimination-style match. Team International features teams from other promotions such as RevPro, STARDOM, MLW, and AEW. The tournament has made headlines this year, due to the participants on the women’s side of the tournament. Participants were first announced in September.

CMLL Grand Prix History

The tournament was first held in 1994. However, women were not included until 2021. Since women were added, the men’s side of the tournament is held in August, and the women’s side is usually held in October. This will be the fifth installment, and a needed catch-up for Team International. Team Mexico leads with 3 wins, while Team International only has one win.

Tessa Blanchard won for Team International in 2023. Last year, AEW sent Willow Nightengale to represent alongside Viva Van and Red Velvet who represented ROH. This year is a big step-up for AEW, as now they are sending four participants.

The Match

The CMLL Grand Prix is typically a longer match. For instance, last year the match lasted 58 minutes. For example, this year’s men’s tournament saw the longest Grand Prix match in history. The match clocked in at one hour and 22 minutes, and was won by Team Mexico.

With the CMLL Women’s World Championship being held by Mercedes Mone, an AEW talent, it will be interesting to see how Team Mexico will perform. In fact, Mone just retained against Persephone, and her next defense will be against Olympia, both of whom are in this year’s match. Therefore, Team Mexico has a big reason to get a win over Team International.
