WWE SmackDown Spoilers and Results (8/29/25):
- SmackDown in Lyon, France, begins with “The Maverick” Logan Paul addressing the WWE Universe ahead of his battle with John Cena at WWE Clash in Paris. Paul started the night heated, still taking exception to Cena calling him a “parasite.” The Maverick said that he’s not a parasite, but rather a “disruptor,” and everyone fails to recognize that. Paul took credit for viewership being up, even stating that he brought WWE to Netflix and ESPN, further explaining that WWE has turned to “WW-Me” due to his influence. Before Paul could go further, the “GOAT” John Cena would make his way to the ring to a thunderous ovation. Cena would turn up the heat, saying that Paul is nothing but a “John Cena wannabe,” stating that Paul’s antics was just a carbon copy of what he was doing 20 years ago, such as knocking people out with brass knuckles as the original “disruptor”, and he should be grateful of the WWE Universe for allowing him to enter their circle. John would twist the knife even further, informing Paul that he may not have the influence he once had, referencing a news report of the top influencers in the world, which did not include his name. Cena would proceed to teach Paul a lesson in respect and gratitude, righting his wrongs from March and apologizing to the young man whom he ran down in his darkest time back in Brussels. Cena would end this conversation by saying that Paul asked for this match at WWE Clash in Paris, and Cena’s more than willing to teach him a thing or two, wrapping it up by telling Paul that he won’t be destroying professional wrestling; instead, professional wrestling will be destroying him.
- For the first bout of the night, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair enter Lyon, France, to defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Unfortunately, their opponents, the Secret HERvice, along with Chelsea Green, would sneak attack them as they make their entrance before we go to break. We see Flair getting escorted out of the ring, taking the brunt of the damage, unable to defend the titles alongside Bliss. A match change would happen, with Bliss looking to avenge her partner against Chelsea Green in singles action. Unsurprisingly, Bliss began the match like a house on fire, looking for revenge against The Green Regime. Both were on their A-Game tonight, taking the action everywhere. After an intense back-and-forth, the match would conclude with Bliss and Green exchanging moves and counters. Green would go for the Un-Pretty-Her, but Alexa would counter and set her up for the Sister Abigail DDT. Green would once again counter, Bliss would get the last word, warding off the attempt and rolling up Chelsea Green for the pinfall victory. Alba Fyre would assault Bliss post-win, before Charlotte Flair would valiantly run back to the ring to assist her partner, before getting overwhelmed by the Green Regime.
- Michin has the opportunity of a lifetime, facing the SmackDown debuting Kiana James in a singles affair. If Michin can knock off James, she’d be one step closer to challenging Giulia for the WWE Women’s United States Championship. Before James realized it, Michin would execute a pinfall, ending the match before it even got started, earning a Women’s U.S. Title match. James and Giulia would take exception to this, beating Michin down. Giulia put an exclamation point on this whole affair, stomping Michin’s head into the steel steps.
- Drew McIntyre makes his way to the ring to address the actions of Randy Orton from last week. These two would get into a verbal argument, with McIntyre informing Orton that, for any other reason, his actions last week would be excused. However, if the reason is Cody Rhodes being his friend, that’s inexcusable. Drew would go further, saying that Rhodes’ “caring for him” is nothing but intel gathering, and Rhodes is a snake in the grass willing to use people for his own gain. Orton would cut him off, telling him that he did what he did last week because he thought of McIntyre as a “prick.” McIntyre would take exception, hitting him with a Glasgow Kiss. Randy would bounce back, ducking a Claymore attempt and executing a Draping DDT to McIntyre. Orton would go for an RKO attempt before WWE officials would get in the middle. An irate Orton would RKO an official, as well as “The Hurricane” Gregory Shane Helms. Randy Orton heard voices in his head and was setting up for a Punt Kick before McIntyre would roll out of the ring.
- The penultimate match of the night happens next as The Street Profits and Melo Don’t Miz face off to become number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship. As expected, it was a heated battle with a title match on the line. In the end, The Street Profits would defeat Melo Don’t Miz to challenge The Wyatt Sicks.
- For the main event of the evening, Sami Zayn challenges for the United States Championship against Solo Sikoa. With their history, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that these two would batter each other, and that they did. Zayn almost won the United States Title, with only a millisecond away. Unfortunately for him, Sikoa would kick out at the last possible moment. Zayn refused to be denied, though, and at the climax of this match, would hit a Helluva Kick to become the #AndNEW United States Champion to cap off the night.
That’s all for REAL-TIME WWE SmackDown spoilers and results for August 29, 2025, live from Lyon, France.
