AEW Collision Preview (5/3/25): “Timeless” Toni Storm in Action

After another successful week with a big rating for AEW Collision and Dynamite, offering three of the best matches of the week, is this week’s Saturday offering taking a gamble?

At present, only three matches have been made official for Atlantic City. Yes, we can speculate and wonder what will happen next with FTR. We can wonder what might be next for The Don Callis Family after Kyle Fletcher’s defeat at the hands of Hangman Adam Page. Maybe a storyline will develop between Megan Bayne and Anna Jay. We’ll see if the latter’s former tag team partner comes to the rescue.

Over the past few months, AEW’s gamble on the quality of its matches, wrestlers, and storylines has only helped their creative turnaround.  Central to this has been a core cast of wrestlers serving up bangers and character development.

Three of whom are going to set this dance alight.

Matches Announced:

  • AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Match: “Timeless” Toni Storm vs. Lady Frost
  • Harley Cameron vs. Megan Bayne
  • Josh Alexander vs. Brody King.

Another Timeless Performance

Putting the AEW Women’s World Champion, “Timeless” Toni Storm, in weekly competition now, The Owen Hart Tournament finals await is a clever way to present one of the company’s top stars. Storm’s contest last week against Queen Aminata allowed the latter to develop her journey. Storm’s outing against TJPW’s Miyu Yamashita was dynamic and memorable.

Seeing Storm take a literal ass-kicking this week has made me and others wonder if the Eliminator concept may be used to set up Storm’s next challenger? At the least, it provides the champion consistent screen time. Given how Storm has mastered and perfected the character after various trials and errors, you’ve got to give the people what they want.

Lady Frost, in terms of her AEW record, isn’t likely to get the upset. Yet with her athleticism and finesse, her icy, cool character contrasted with Storm’s mania is going to make spaces between moves sing. More memorable moments, yes. More time for the women to address the spotlight issue. Yes, please, and at least twice on Saturdays.

Josh Alexander vs. Brody King

Like “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight, Josh Alexander has seamlessly become part of the fabric of AEW’s dynamic midcard. While crowded, each man’s uniqueness has helped them stand out. In contrast to Bailey and Knight, Alexander’s technical prowess and power have been displayed alongside The Don Callis Family.

Alexander took “Hangman” Adam Page by surprise before, during, and after the match. Since then, Alexander’s involvement in The Don Callis Family has seen the former TNA World Champion as an equal, teaming with Konosuke Takeshita. However, facing Brody King again, this time without a tag team partner, will be bruising.

Brody King’s 2025 run of form has been phenomenal in between the bells. The issue is the win-loss record where it counts. It’s a partner of booking we’ve seen before, even with Konosuke Takeshita during his “rookie” spell. It feels like King, like Lady Frost, will take the L.

The chances of a banger are high, but the aftermath could be used to set up whatever’s next for each party.
