For the second year in a row, the AEW Dynasty PPV could mark more than the start of a new direction for the company. With the opening matches of the Men’s and Women’s 2025 Owen Cup Tournaments, the company is thinking about the future. All In Texas is the destination of the summer.
However, the main event storyline keeps us grounded in the now. For a second year in a row, Swerve Strickland challenges. Again, Strickland feels ready to take the championship.
Fans are behind Strickland. Although, depending on how you read the go-home Dynamite’s interaction between Hangman Adam Page and Strickland, you may be more excited or nervous for Sunday.
You can read more about the main event with my Match Point guide to Jon Moxley vs. Swerve Strickland. Likewise, I’ve speculated on what happens if Megan Bayne defeats ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm.
Beneath the world championship match, the card is loaded with potential bangers, MOTY contenders, and plenty of exciting new directions.

AEW Trios Championship
After the underwhelming match quality of Moxley vs. Cope, a feud that will be best remembered for using the unusable weapon, this trios match follows an AEW tradition of growing bangers and big moments from the ashes of disappointment. Death Riders are in the midst of a spree of trios championship defences.
Since bringing the belts back to TV, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta are masters of the heel champion paradox. They cheat their way to victory after almost convincing us a title change could happen. At the same time, they demonstrate a fluidity and teamwork that makes them appear unstoppable.
Unlike previous defences, their opponents’ personal issues add extra garnish. Dax Harwood’s displays of frustration, disrespect, and anger have reached boiling point. Shoving a referee and then his best friend and tag team partner, Cash Wheeler has created a tense situation.
Could FTR implode? Or will FTR be turning heel? Or could there be another swerve outside of the main event?
AEW International Championship
In 2025, Kenny Omega is performing without restraints. As the AEW International Champion, fans are getting The Cleaner at his best and not holding back. This dream contest may steal the show.
Weaving excellent action and three distinct stories, all facilitated by one championship, don’t blink. Omega’s history with crafting three-ways (think Double or Nothing 2023) guarantees a banger. Between moves, interactions between the GOAT in Omega, the snivelling cheat Ricochet, and the calm but lightning-quick reactions of Mike Bailey will offer plenty of entertainment.
There are going to be turns, spills, and thrills. Especially after the draw that brought Bailey and Ricochet into this contest, expecting the unexpected might be a sensible approach to this contest.
