It’s always bigger in Texas, and there’s nothing bigger in professional wrestling on Friday nights than WWE SmackDown. Last week’s edition of the Blue brand was utter chaos. Fortunately, the WWE Universe wouldn’t have it any other way, and the latest episode will probably deliver the same heart-pumping action. With all that said, let’s get ready as we provide you with the WWE SmackDown preview for January 24th, 2025. Let’s run it down.
Match Card for WWE SmackDown (1/24/25):
- LA Knight vs. Tama Tonga
- Motor City Machine Guns vs. Pretty Deadly
In The Cross Heirs of the Megastar
LA Knight is no stranger to The Bloodline. When he thought he was out, they pulled him back in. A few weeks ago, Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga went haywire, making a statement that despite Solo Sikoa’s loss on the first WWE Raw on Netflix at the hands of Roman Reigns, their Tribal Chief is here to stay.
The New Bloodline members dismantled Sami Zayn and Braun Strowman before Jimmy Uso and Cody Rhodes made the save. Later in the night, they were escorted out by security with a huge helping hand via LA. Knight. (Yeah!).
Again last week, Fatu and Tonga would interfere in the Jimmy Uso and Carmelo Hayes bout, laying waste to anyone with a pulse. But then again, Braun Strowman and LA Knight were there on the frontlines. This series of events lead us to this Friday night: LA Knight vs. Tama Tonga.
On paper, the WWE Universe is getting a dang good match. But if you look more deeply, this one is personal, and both men will go out of their way to get one up on each other. Will Tama Tonga make a statement? Or will LA Knight knock off another pawn in this never-ending Bloodline game?
(Pretty) Deadly Games
The Motor City Machine Guns have been on absolute tear as they look to reclaim the WWE Tag Team Championship from #DIY. Over the past two weeks, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have beaten the likes of A-Town Down Under and Los Garza in scintillating matches to inch closer and closer to a tag title rematch.
Last week, their win over Los Garza was almost dashed by the interference of Pretty Deadly. Fortunately, MCMG were veterans of the industry that knew what to do in situations like that. They would dispatch Kit Wilson and Elton Prince on their way to hitting Skull and Bones and picking up the victory.
Friday night, Shelley and Sabin look to exact some comeuppance as they face off against Pretty Deadly. Will Pretty Deadly notch the biggest win of their careers? Or will MCMG climb another rung to book their date with destiny?
That’s all for the WWE SmackDown preview for January 24th, 2025. See it all unfold this Friday night on the USA Network live, as well as on Netflix!
After this WWE SmackDown preview, are you excited for this week’s show?
