Preview: AEW Worlds End (12/28/24) – Full Card, Start Time, How to Watch

This Saturday, AEW looks to end 2024 with a decisive bang. A year after the inaugural AEW Worlds End, many things have changed creatively, but some issues remain. The most divisive storyline of 2023,

The Devil storyline, which saw the end of MJF’s AEW World championship reign, concludes Saturday. It would be very AEW if the match hit nirvana-like peaks despite the hellish and potholed road to the PPV.

Yet across the card, AEW is displaying its range and best: bangers, meat, emotive storytelling, stumbling blocks, shocks, twists, and triumphant.

SPOILER ALERT for AEW Dynamite

Continental Classic Semi-Finals and Finals

The Continental Classic delivered on expectations after last year’s tournament. New stars have been made. Stories and character growth explored. Now, four remain.

The trilogy-ender between Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher finds both men bookending their 2024 with their roles reversed. At the forefront of The Don Callis Family, Fletcher is riding high with momentum and arrogance. Yet without Don Callis in his corner, can Fletcher do it alone?

Ospreay has evolved and grown into one of AEW’s premier babyfaces. However, as a consequence of elevating the AEW locker room, Ospreay had to scrape through the group stage. Can he overcome his former best friend?

In the other semi, the battle is between two wrestlers trying to define themselves. Without his friends, The Elite, Kazuchika Okada, finds himself as “The Bitchmaker.” However, it’s “The Rainmaker” that many fans want to see.

When Okada won the AEW Continental Championship, the emphasis on character over work rate on a roster of GOATs worked, but it’s time for change. On Saturday, Okada must step up in the ring to prove he is the greatest tournament wrestler of all time.

Out of this world (and out of his mind?), Ricochet is embracing something. However, finishing top of the blue league by hook and by crook, it’s working. To prove he is one of the best in the world, can Ricochet outmaneuver or out-cheat another GOAT?

And that’s without considering who makes it to the finals to compete for the AEW Continental Championship and history.

AEW World Championship Four-Way

Jon Moxley’s paradigm shift is slowly achieving its goal. Lighting a fire under Orange Cassidy, “Hangman” Adam Page, and Jay White all are gunning to be the AEW World champion. While it’s caused The Death Riders to up the ante, the AEW roster is still divided.

While outnumbered three to one, when have the Death Riders been willing to play fair? Then again, will White or Page or even Cassidy, if it means toppling Moxley? Egos might run wild, but so might hubris.

Moxley could lose. I’ve covered the what-ifs of a post-Moxley 2025 here. Or the lack of unity will be the downfall of Moxley’s opponents. Like each previous PPV, a big evening might be planned.
