ROH Supercard of Honor 2023 Results: poster

Ahead of Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor show on Friday night, Tony Khan had a media call with the pro wrestling media to answer questions about the show, ROH, AEW, and so much more. Here are the important notes from the call.

ROH Supercard of Honor: Tony Khan Media Call Notes

  • When asked about the rivalry between Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston, Khan made the point he has always tried to play off the history between wrestlers. He knew that all of their history wasn’t necessarily good. He’s aware it’ll be a match that shows how much they dislike each other while giving credit to Joseph Montecillo for helping put the video together.
  • Khan noted that the ROH Women’s World Championship match between Athena and Willow Nightingale is one of the best matches ROH has seen since he’s taken over. He went on to say there’s a lot to look forward to with the ROH women’s division as it will continue to highlight young wrestlers like AEW’s Skye Blue.
  • ROH HonorClub TV Episode 6 will be taped in New York next week.
  • With WrestleMania Week playing home to many independent wrestling promotions holding shows, Khan said that he will be scouting talent and watching some of the indie shows. He credited the international talents who come in are what partly makes the week so special.
  • With both set to compete for the AAA Mega Championship at Supercard of Honor, Tony Khan said that he hopes to feature both El Hijo del Vikingo and Komander more on AEW TV moving forward.
  • Bandido will make a splash in both AEW and ROH moving forward.
  • Wheeler Yuta and Katsuyori Shibata are set to face off at Supercard of Honor. Tony Khan says that Yuta is a future top star in this business while acknowledging that Shibata is a legend in the business. The ROH owner stated this very well may be Shibata’s toughest test yet since returning to pro wrestling.
  • HonorClub now has 15,000 subscribers.
  • QT Marshall came up with the idea for the “Reach for the Sky” Ladder Match, which Mark Briscoe loved when Khan told him about it.
  • Mark Briscoe was clear that he does not want to compete in tag team matches moving forward, keeping it to singles, trios, and multi-man matches.
  • When asked about Will Ospreay, who was set to be in town for the IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse show, Khan said that Ospreay was going to take part in Supercard of Honor.
  • Shawn Michaels commented during the NXT media call that William Regal has done all his work with the main roster rather than NXT since returning to WWE, which contradicted what Khan had said and believed previously. Khan said that he believes it and didn’t realize there was another call going on at the same time.
  • Tony Khan told Kenny Omega that booking Ring of Honor has left him more invigorated than ever before which has led to a great synergy between ROH and AEW.
  • Khan has a “huge announcement” set for AEW Dynamite on Wednesday.
