Westside Extreme Wrestling (wXw) held their annual 16 Carat Gold tournament this past weekend and Shigehiro Irie not only won the tournament but was crowned the new wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion during the finals against Axel Tischer. Irie made history by becoming the first Japanese wrestler since Daisuke Sekimoto in 2011 to win the wXw Unified World Wrestling championship. He competed in 5 matches over the course of 4 days en route to becoming the overall, a hell of a feat for the travelling member of STRONGHEARTS.

There were 2 title changes elsewhere within the promotion during this weekend, Baby Allison & Arrows of Hungary both became champions over the weekend. Both the wXw Women’s & World Tag Team championships have new title holders going forward, the switches occurred during Night 2 (Dover & Icarus vs Aingle Blanc & Senza Volto) (Baby Allison vs Aliss Ink vs Ava Everett vs Iva Kolasky). Norman Harras lost to former wXw World tag team champion Bobby Gunns in a singles match during the weekend, therefore he will no longer be the kayfabe “Authority figure” within Westside Extreme Wrestling going forward.

The Lucha Libre rules match this year was Komander teaming former wXw World tag team champions Frenchadors (Aingle Blanc/Senza Volto) vs the team of Fuminori Abe, Arez and the current X Division champion of IMPACT Wrestling, Trey Miguel in a trios match.

In a rare treat, Davey Richards and Masha Slamovich teamed up against the reunited duo of  Only Freinds (Bobby Gunns/Michael Knight) during night 3 of the weekend. The current West Coast Pro Wrestling Women’s champion had a pretty deep run within the 16 Carat tourney making it to the final 8 and came very close to beating Axel Tischer in their quarterfinal match.

All 3 shows including the Ambition tournament and wXw Inner Circle will be available for viewing on the streaming service of Westside Extreme Wrestling before the current month ends
