Katsuyori Shibata Appears on Dynamite, Will Compete on Rampage

Katsuyori Shibata made his first-ever appearance on AEW Dynamite tonight during the live show from Baltimore. He came to the aid of Orange Cassidy following his All-Atlantic Championship defense.

Katsuyori Shibata Appears on Dynamite

Orange Cassidy defended his AEW All-Atlantic Championship successfully in a three-way match against Rey Fenix and Luchasaurus. Following the match, PAC of Death Triangle beat down Orange Cassidy. It was at that point Shibata made his appearance alongside Cassidy’s Best Friends teammates Chuck Taylor and Trent Berretta.

Shibata made his way to the ring as PAC retreated from the attack. Per the stipulation of the triple threat match, the winner of the match could pick their opponent for Friday. Shibata pointed at the contract in Cassidy’s hand and the two agreed to make the match official. This Friday Shibata will challenge Cassidy for AEW All-Atlantic Championship.

Shibata appeared at the AEW and NJPW crossover event Forbidden Door. He came to the aid of Cassidy at that event as well as Cassidy was taking a post-match beatdown from Will Ospreay and United Empire following the match between Ospreay and Cassidy.

Shibata returned to the ring late in 2021 following a break from in-ring competition in 2017. The break was taken due to a head injury he sustained in 2017 in a match with Kazuchika Okada.
