#AndNEW: Two Titles Changes at Pro Wrestling NOAH Demolition Stage 2021 In Yokohama

DEMOLITION STAGE 2021 in YOKOHAMA

Pro Wrestling NOAH (NOAH) recently held its Demolition Stage 2021 In Yokohama show, live from Yokohama Budokan. This show featured championship matches, with two seeing titles change hands. Let’s get into these title changes.

Titles Change Hands at Demolition Stage 2021

Kenou Captures the GHC National Championship by Defeating Masaaki Mochizuki

When it comes to the defining GHC National Champions, it has always been two men: Kenou and Takashi Sugiura. Kenou is regarded by many as the best GHC National Champion, as he transcended the importance of that championship to make it a main event-level title. He is also the longest-reigning champion at 229 days. In his most recent match, he faced off against Masaaki Mochizuki. Mochizuki would win the GHC National Championship by defeating Sugiura at Go On The Demolition Stage.

Going into this match, these two had an important encounter in the N-1 Victory. Kenoh would go to the finals of the tournament by defeating Mochizuki on Night Five. In this match, these two would put out an all-out war between each other, with the result being a brand new champion; Kenou would defeat Mochizuki to capture the GHC National Championship for a second time, winning by knockout. This marks another major win for the Kongoh faction, with two of the main champions being in said faction.

The Aftermath

After this match, Kenou would set his sights on doing something he couldn’t do in 2020: become NOAH’s Double Champion. In 2020, Kenou challenged Go Shiozaki for the GHC Heavyweight Championship, the two wrestling to a 60-minute time limit draw. This time, Kenou challenged Katsuhiko Nakajima, who won the GHC Heavyweight Championship from Naomichi Marufuji last month.

It’s a match that’s will tell who the true leader of Kongoh is. It will also be the main event of one of NOAH’s biggest PPVs for the end of the month known as NOAH The Best. This match, which is one of two title bouts already announced for the show, will take place on November 28.

Naomichi Marufuji and Keiji Mutoh Capture the GHC Tag Team Championship

In the main event of the evening, Naomichi Marufuji and Keiji Mutoh challenged Kaito Kiyomiya and Masa Kitamiya for the GHC Tag Team Championship. Marufuji and Mutoh would go through a grueling 30-minute match to capture the GHC Tag Team Championship.

With this victory, Keiji Mutoh is a Grand Slam Tag Team Heavyweight Champion, previously holding titles in All Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. While this is Mutoh’s first GHC Tag Team Championship victory, it is Naomichi Marufuji’s 8th reign. Furthermore, Marufuji has become the most accomplished GHC Tag Team Champion by besting Go Shiozaki’s 7 title reigns. It is currently unknown who the next challengers for the new champions are, though this may be revealed sooner rather than later.
