IMPACT Wrestling Bound For Glory Results: In-Depth Match Analysis
IMPACT World Championship: Christian Cage (c) vs. Josh Alexander
Bound For Glory was built around this match. Christian Cage defending the IMPACT World Championship against Josh Alexander. Alexander had worked and clawed his way for years to not just become a full-time professional wrestler but a world champion. This was his supposed to be his moment. But competing against Cage meant he would have to bring his A-game and make no mistakes to get the job done. For the most part, he did that and it led to the match of the night.
When watching these two wrestlers scrap, you’re not going to get the glitz and glam that involves out-of-this-world high flying and jaw-dropping athleticism that will leave you asking “what just happened?” Instead, what you’ll get is technical prowess and the truest to form of what many believe the basis of pro wrestling is. They wrestled fluently with one another, exchanging reversals with submissions and so on. It not only made for a simple watch but one a fan could be invested from the start on due to the story at hand.
Every near fall meant something as Alexander’s dream was starting to slip but somehow he managed to put it all together. After further destroying the right shoulder of Cage, making it nearly useless, Alexander locked on the Ankle Lock and stepped on the left hand of Cage. There was nowhere to go for the champion, resulting in the tap and the moment. A rather quiet Las Vegas crowd the most of the jumped out of their chairs as it was Alexander’s moment at the conclusion of a great wrestling match.
It was the storybook ending fans had hoped for when it came to Alexander. Unfortunately IMPACT had other plans to ruin that moment before anyone could really enjoy it as Moose cashed in his Call Your Shot cup, which he had won earlier in the night, stealing the title from Alexander as he celebrated with his family. The match between Alexander and Cage was worth the watch but the final minutes of the show left a sour taste in the month of many and rightfully so.
