#AndNEW: Hajime Ohara and Atsushi Kotoge Win GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship

Hajime Ohara Atsushi Kotoge GHC Junior Heavyweight

Pro Wrestling NOAH’s (NOAH) N-1 Victory recently started. The first event featuring 4 block matches and 1 special title match. The latter match saw the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship contested between titleholders Seiki Yoshioka and Yuya Susumu and challengers Hajime Ohara and Atsushi Kotoge. By the end, Ohara and Kotoge walked away with the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles.

Hajime Ohara and Atsushi Kotoge Win the Titles

Seiki Yoshioka and Yuya Susumu were the defending GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions at the N-1 Victory event. Their championship reign was forged following the disintegration of Yoshioka’s alliance with STINGER over his old faction Full Throttle. After having a successful title defense against Kongo, two of the remaining members of the Full Throttle Faction would challenge for these championships. These names were Hajime Ohara and Atsushi Kotoge.

After Seiki Yoshioka left Full Throttle, he would join STINGER and be dominant in the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Division. He saw success after his short stint as GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion, which was ended by Atsushi Kotoge. Yoshioka would also be blinded by this success, as he didn’t treat his upcoming opponents like threats. For Yoshioka, it was about finally proving how strong he was as a member of STINGER, by defeating his former stablemates. However, for STINGER, it all went wrong.

How the Title Change Occurred

These two teams put on a great match on the opening night of N-1 Victory. The end result, however, saw new GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. Hajime Ohara and Atsushi Kotoge defeated STINGER; Ohara regained his championship and Kotoge held the title for the first time since June 2019. This marks the 8th time that Kotoge held this championship belt; he’s already regarded as the man to hold this championship the most times. For Ohara, it’s his fifth reign as champion.

That’s not all; with new champions, new challengers approach the brand new GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. Nosawa Rongai and EITA of Los Perros del Mal de Japón would challenge the new champions. EITA is still brand new to NOAH, only making his debut for the promotion in June, while Rongai is a longtime veteran of Pro Wrestling NOAH.  There’s currently no confirmed date for this upcoming match. We can assume, however, that it could happen sometime later in the N-1 Victory tour or on the October 10th show. The latter event may feature multiple title bouts, including the GHC Heavyweight Championship match between the N-1 Victory‘s winner against Naomichi Marufuji. We will see how things shape up for NOAH later in the N-1 Victory.
