Did Sol Ruca Survive Her Women’s IC Title Defense on 7/6 WWE Raw?

Sol Ruca left NXT in late April for the main roster and to be part of WWE Raw after a run filled with highs and lows. Some of the highs included partnering with Zaria and becoming NXT Women’s North American Champion while simultaneously holding the NXT Speed Championship.

Unfortunately, those good moments led to Zaria betraying her and losing both of those titles due to injury last fall. She lost to Zaria in a Last Woman Standing match during week 2 of NXT Revenge, setting up her call-up.

A month after that match, she faced Becky Lynch in a non-title match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The next week she beat Lynch at Clash in Italy to become the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

She defended the title on the June 8, 2026 episode of WWE Raw against Lyra Valkyria, where she retained in a very impressive win. However, her next challenger is part of a powerful faction that can make her lose if she isn’t careful. Could she walk out with the win once again?

Sol Ruca Retains after an IYO SKY Distraction

There has been a lot going on with the Judgment Day over the past couple of weeks. Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh have been in an ongoing feud with Danhausen. McDonagh is facing him at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18. Liv Morgan is the current WWE Women’s Champion, and will face IYO SKY at SummerSlam after she lost the Queen of the Ring match at Night of Champions.

The only people in the faction that are currently not locked in a feud are Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. That means that they can do what the Judgment Day does best, which is challenge for titles. On the July 6 Raw, Rodriguez faced Ruca for the WWE Women’s North American Championship. With Morgan as backup, there would be a big chance of her winning and becoming champion. But would SKY’s feud with Morgan come back to haunt her?

The match started with both women trading good amounts of offense with each other. Rodriguez picked up Ruca, but couldn’t gain momentum as her shoulder got driven into the turnbuckle. She then tried to clothesline Ruca, but the ropes got pulled, leading to her tumbling to the outside. Ruca tried for a moonsault, but was unsuccessful.

When she got back on the apron, her leg got pulled. But she did a cartwheel and kicked Rodriguez in the face before a springboard into a corkscrew sent both women down. She rolled her into the ring for a pin attempt, but didn’t get the three count.

Rodriguez went for the chokeslam, and again Ruca used acrobatics to get out of the move. But she got clotheslined to the floor. Rodriguez tried a pinfall of her own, but the match continued. Ruca got up and tried to jump on Rodriguez, but the latter got her knees up before any damage was done, leading to another unsuccessful pinfall.

That was when Perez arrived to give her the numbers advantage, as she immediately got up on the apron to argue with the referee. Ruca went for the Sol Snatcher but got caught by Morgan, who arrived ringside as well. She and Rodriguez tossed her off the turnbuckle and onto the ground, but the pinfall afterward wasn’t successful.

When Morgan and Perez both tried to argue with the referee, SKY’s music played. She made herself known by jumping off the barricade onto Perez and kicking Morgan in the face. Then she delivered a moonsault to both women as Rodriguez watched. That distraction led to Ruca hitting the Sol Snatcher to win.

Even though their match at SummerSlam is weeks away, Morgan and SKY still have a lot of issues between them. Those issues led to Ruca retaining her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
