Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

Why Former AEW Star Danhausen Is Already a Hit with WWE Fans

Leading up to the Elimination Chamber this year, a giant box was delivered to WWE. A warning was on the box, saying that it shouldn’t be opened until the PLE on February 28, 2026. Monday Night Raw General Manager Adam Pearce and Friday Night SmackDown General Manager sent it back and forth until they decided to open it at the PLE. The night came, and it was opened. Inside the box was a coffin, and out came a bunch of dancers, along with a specific person.

That specific person was the very nice and very evil Danhausen. Since his debut three weeks ago, he has pronounced curses on other wrestlers, along with throwing t-shirts to people in the crowd and the announcers every week. Even though he hasn’t wrestled yet, he is a big hit. Why are people taking a huge liking to him?

Danhausen Will Carry on R-Truth’s Legacy

For years, R-Truth was the funny man backstage and in the locker room. His antics with the 24/7 Championship were legendary and still brought up today. People loved him so much that WWE brought him back after his contract was up last summer due to social media outcry. However, he is 54, nearly twenty years older than Danhausen.

At some point, he’s going to retire, leaving behind a legacy of entertainment and laughter. Danhausen is pretty much the same guy—a capable wrestler with a funny side that gets over with the crowd quickly.

There’s definitely room for comedy in wrestling, and if R-Truth’s not around, who’s going to be the funny guy? Danhausen is the perfect wrestler to take over the comedic part of the shows. Fans love it when silly things happen in between the drama, and his character shines when he’s allowed to do that.

His Curses Spell Doom for Many People

One of the trademark phrases he always uses is “YOU ARE CURSED!”, said towards people who disrespect him. That might seem silly, but so far his curses have worked. Dominik Mysterio lost the WWE Intercontinental Championship to Penta.

Finn Balor got kicked out of the Judgment Day. The Miz got embarrassed by Jelly Roll. El Grande Americano cost “The Original” El Grande Americano two championship opportunities last week. He cursed Grayson Waller and Kofi Kingston on the March 16 Raw, which could definitely lead to a split.

It may seem ridiculous, but there’s no denying that it works. Whether it’s coincidental or actually predicting their downfall can definitely be debated. But fans know that whenever Danhausen curses someone, trouble will be coming their way. They love him because he sets off a series of events that are entertaining and lead to important developments throughout the show.

He is a Fun Presence on a Serious Show

There’s no denying that Pearce nearly losing his mind and voice is a guarantee every Monday. The same thing can pretty much be said about Aldis on Fridays. Raw and SmackDown are chaotic, filled with animosity and hatred. At some point, there has to be some laughter to lighten the mood.

That’s why Danhausen is still a free agent nearly a month after his WWE debut. Instead of being assigned to one show, he is spreading confusion and silliness across both weekly shows.

The other wrestlers themselves are pretty annoyed with him, just like they are with R-Truth. However, the fans think he is a funny guy. There’s a reason why he gets such enthusiastic crowd reactions when he hands out t-shirts every week. His brand of comedy stands out in a good way when everyone else is full of intense animosity towards each other.
