If there’s one thing the “Original” El Grande Americano doesn’t tolerate, it’s impersonation. Ever since returning at the Royal Rumble, he has been attacking the other El Grande Americano, ruining his matches and making his life miserable. However, that hasn’t stopped the newer El Grande from getting elusive opportunities. On the February 16, 2026 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, he had a very important match against Penta.
The winner of the match would become the number one contender for Dominik Mysterio’s Intercontinental Championship. It seemed like an easy victory for him even before he stepped into the ring. With Bravo and Rayo by his side, there was no chance Penta would escape with the victory. But with the “Original” El Grande Americano targeting him, could he win before his nemesis could show up and potentially stop him?
The “Original” El Grande Americano Sends Penta to an Intercontinental Championship Match
Heading into the match, the newer El Grande had a lot to think about. Not only does he have one of the most important matches of his career, but he also has an impostor chasing him. It would seem understandable that he would be nervous, but Bravo and Rayo definitely helped calm those nerves.
He would easily get the win and face Mysterio, or at least that’s what he thought. Would Penta and potentially the “Original” El Grande prove otherwise? The match was good, but definitely predictable at the beginning. The two men went back and forth until Los Americanos made themselves known as usual. With El Grande on the ground, Penta was going to hit him with the Mexican Destroyer, but got distracted by Rayo, who got kicked in the face.
The distraction allowed El Grande to hit his signature headbutt, but the pinfall was unsuccessful. El Grande began to crawl to the apron to receive the steel plate with a Rayo referee distraction.
But before it could be handed over to him, Bravo got dragged underneath the ring. The “Original” El Grande crawled out, immediately attacking Los Americanos. The newer El Grande stared at the “original” for a second too long, as Penta delivered a springboard Mexican Destroyer.
He got the pinfall and the victory, sending him into a match for the Intercontinental Championship. The “original” got in the ring and began beating up the newer El Grande. He then tried to rip off his mask before Bravo and Rayo carried him away. How long will it take before a match between them becomes official? Nothing will stop these two until one El Grande Americano is unmasked.
