For nearly a month now, Jey and Jimmy Uso have been WWE World Tag Team Champions. They beat AJ Styles and Dragon Lee on the December 28, 2025, episode of Monday Night Raw. However, a lot of tag teams have been eyeing their titles for a while. That meant that a number-one contender’s match for the championships had to be made official by Raw GM Adam Pearce.
Indeed, it was finalized for the January 26, 2026 Raw. Alpha Academy (Akira Tozawa and Otis), Los Americanos (Bravo and Rayo), the Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed), and the New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) all had the opportunity to get a title match for themselves. Which team would get the victory to receive a World Tag Team title match when Jimmy gets back?
Tozawa and Otis Get Key Victory to Receive Title Match
Going into the match, the four teams each had a reason for winning. Tozawa and Otis would get a chance to show that they’re more than just a comedy act. Bravo and Rayo would get an opportunity to make El Grande Americano proud. Julius and Brutus would fulfill the injured Chad Gable’s promise of challenging for tag team gold.
Kofi and Xavier would continue a decade-old rivalry that defines WWE’s tag team division. All four teams would be good decisions to win. But with every match, there can only be one winner. The match was very entertaining. Every single man put their bodies on the line for a title shot.
It was clear that facing and potentially defeating the Usos was a prime motivation for the eight men. But there was one standout duo that performed insanely better than the rest. Tozawa and Otis showed everyone that they can be serious wrestlers when they need to be. Tozawa managed to clear the ring efficiently with DDTs, punches, and suplexes.
Afterwards, he dove onto everyone through the ropes, sending them to the floor. Otis was also a force to be reckoned with, knocking everyone down with his strength. Their teamwork was at its highest when the Creeds tried to attack Otis. Using Brutus as a step stool, Julius went to jump on Otis, but got caught. He got slammed onto the back of his brother, forcing them to lie on the ground.

Otis tagged Tozawa, who delivered a senton to Julius. After the count was made, the winner was declared. Otis and Tozawa were now the number one contenders for the WWE World Tag Team Championships. The Usos better be careful, as underestimating the Alpha Academy could have severe consequences.
