John Cena Shares Message To Fans Who Don’t Believe His WWE Retirement Is Real

In a little more than a week from now, John Cena will finally retire from WWE. The Cenation Leader announced his retirement last year at Money in the Bank premium live event, and since then, he’s given fans a lot of great matches and moments.

John Cena recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where the wrestler talked about his upcoming retirement as well as other things about his wrestling career.

Kimmel asked Cena about his retirement tour, and Cena said that he just has one more match left in the tank and after that, he would never wrestle again. Kimmel asked, “What if you do wrestle again?” and the wrestler replied that then he would just be a liar.

John Cena Talks About The Skepticism Surrounding His WWE Retirement

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Cena said that he announced his retirement a year in advance so that WWE fans could process this whole thing eventually. He’s been working as an active star for over two decades now, and understands that a lot of wrestlers do eventually come out of retirement, but that won’t be the case with him.

He also said that those fans who are doubting he’ll actually retire, those fans will not get the closure they want.

“It’s weird because there’s a lot of skepticism out there because this has never been done before. I just hope people can come to grips with that. The reason I wanted to give people so much lead time is being able to perform for two decades, and people allowing me into their living rooms week after week for 52 weeks a year, no reruns… You do feel a connection with people. And touring the world in this last year, it really has been beautiful.

“Meeting audience members and them sharing their stories and connection has been great, and I wanted to give people heads up so people could process whatever closure they wanted for the 13th. And if you’re one of those people who are like, ‘You’re never gonna retire’, after the 13th is going to be weird because you don’t have the closure you want.”

John Cena will next wrestle on the December 13 edition of Saturday Night Main Event, where he’ll face the winner of the Last Time is Now tournament. LA Knight and Gunther are the finalists in the tournament, and they’ll wrestle each other on the next SmackDown to be Cena’s final opponent in wrestling.
