When WWE Hit a Home Run: Top 5 Matches at MLB Parks

  1. The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian (Astrodome, Houston)

The stage would be set in Houston, Texas, on April 1, 2001, for WrestleMania 17, considered one of the best WrestleManias of all time. Despite the Houston Astros relocating down the road two years prior, this bout must be included due to its legendary status and the fact that the Astros played there for 35 years.

The fight was only the second TLC match in WWE, the first to take place at a WrestleMania, and included the three best tag teams in WWE at the time. This carryover match from SummerSlam 2000 not only did not disappoint, but was even more incredible than the first showdown.

“TLC II”  is widely recognized as the greatest TLC match of all time, with some considering it the greatest ever in WWE and some of the most iconic moments included Jeff Hardy’s Swanton Bomb from 25 feet at the top of a ladder down onto the Dudley Boyz, and Edge’s Spear to Jeff Hardy as he was hanging onto the two tag team titles 20 feet in the air.

Each wrestler went through at least one table during the match, with nine tables being completely destroyed.

The non-stop action made for edge-of-your-seat viewing and resulted in Edge and Christian once again capturing the Tag Team Championship belts. The bout was so spectacular and violent that WWE scaled back on this specific format due to the physical toll it took on the superstars.
