When WWE Hit a Home Run: Top 5 Matches at MLB Parks

One of the biggest WWE PLEs of the year is up next on the calendar, as Survivor Series: WarGames is set to take over Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres, on November 29, 2025. This is the second signature event that an MLB venue has hosted this year, and if history is any indication, the performers will be stealing the show, rather than stealing bases.

With the WWE once again aiming for a grand slam, let’s take a look at the five greatest matches to take place at MLB parks.

  1. Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior (SkyDome, Toronto)

WrestleMania 6 took place on April 1, 1990, at SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario, home of the Toronto Blue Jays. After crossing paths at the Royal Rumble, WWF Champion Hulk Hogan issued “The Ultimate Challenge” to WWF Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior to determine which superstar would be the most dominant force in the WWF.

This was, and still is, the only time in WWE history where the World title and the Intercontinental Championship were defended in the same match.

The first WrestleMania to be held outside the United States, this matchup was electric based on the sheer starpower alone. The fact that it was also a Winner Takes All match made the stakes extremely high, as the loser would walk away with nothing, while the winner would hold both title belts.

The atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation, as the crowd was divided as to who they wanted to see emerge victorious. Following a long battle, The Ultimate Warrior defeated Hogan by delivering a Big Splash, followed by a pinfall, the first time Hogan was pinned clean since 1981.

Becoming the first superstar to hold both the WWF Championship and the Intercontinental Championship simultaneously, the win cemented Warrior as the new face of the company.
