Rule For DDT Extreme Title Match at Wrestle Peter Pan Announced

The buildup for Wrestle Peter Pan 2025 continued when DDT presented YOKOHAMERMAID live at Yokohama Radiant Hall yesterday, August 9, Japan time. On day one of Wrestle Peter Pan on August 30 in Higashin Arena, reigning DDT Extreme champion To-y will be challenged by Yuya Koroku. The rule for their title match was finally decided yesterday after a tag team encounter, with Yuki Ueno as the champion’s partner and Chris Brookes siding with the challenger.

It was announced before the bell rang that it was Koroku’s wish for the rule of the tag match to be a “20-count rule” match, where the first team to gain 20 pinfall counts over the other will win. However, the match finished with neither team reaching the fall quota, as it ended with Koroku winning it via submission over To-y.

Both champion and challenger went back and forth on the mic after the match, with To-y arguing that he didn’t lose because their opponents did not get 20 falls. Koroku fired back at him by saying that he didn’t say anything about the match having no submissions.

Koroku would then piss off To-y by saying that he would win the title at Peter Pan because he won the tag match with his rules. The champion then rebutted that since he likes the count rule so much, he decided to make the rules of their title match at Peter Pan a “1-count rule” match, where instead of a traditional three-count pinfall, the referee would only need a count of one to declare a winner.

This stipulation makes the match more exciting, as it is expected to be more fast-paced, with both wrestlers attempting to kick out of pin attempts before the referee’s hand touches the mat. This will be To-y’s third title defense of the Extreme title after winning it last June 18 against Super Sasadango Machine. Koroku challenged him after his second successful title defense against freelancer Hikaru Sato last July 15, at Beer Garden Fight Night 1 in Shinjuku.

In other news, Daisuke Sasaki also announced his 20th anniversary show after successfully defending the KO-D Six-Man Tag Team titles with his Damnation T.A. cohorts, Hideki Okatani and Ilusion. They defeated the team of Kazuma Sumi and the reigning KO-D Tag Team champions, The Apex, Yuki Iino, and Yukio Naya, whom they and Okatani will be challenging for their titles on day one of Peter Pan.

Sasaki announced that the main event of his 20th anniversary show, titled “CHARISMANIA x MANIA x MANIA,” will be a tag team match between Antonio Honda and Shuji Ishikawa versus himself and reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion El Desperado. The show will be at Korakuen Hall on October 2.
