Match 52 Between Uemura & Tsuji

Eternally linked together since their days as young lions, Yuya Uemura and Yota Tsuji will wrestle their 52nd singles match against one another. This time will have much more weight on it, because the last time they met in the ring was at last year’s G1, where Uemura tore his tricep, which caused him to forfeit the rest of the tournament.

Uemura hopes to give Tsuji a better match this year and erase the memory of last year’s heartbreak. Tsuji, on the other hand, looks to add to his lead in their singles match record, which currently stands at 17 wins, compared to just 12 by his rival.

NEVER Openweight Champ Battles The Ace

Reigning NEVER Openweight champion Boltin Oleg and Hiroshi Tanahashi currently have identical records in the tournament so far. This encounter will only be the second time they face each other, after Oleg broke Tanahashi’s streak of consecutive G1 entries last year, after beating him in a tournament qualifier.

Tanahashi looks to avenge that loss and gain some momentum in his 23rd G1, while Oleg will look to prove that last year’s victory over The Ace was no fluke.

House of Torture Members Collide

House of Torture leader and current A Block leader EVIL will clash with his former IWGP Tag Team champion partner in LIJ and current stablemate Sanada. Both men find themselves at opposite ends of the spectrum, as EVIL sits atop their block, while Sanada is going into their match winless.

These men have faced each other nine times, with EVIL holding a slight one-win edge. Can the King of Darkness protect his spot at the top of the A Block, or will Sanada finally break through to the win column at the expense of his good friend?

Elsewhere in the card are two men linked to Sanada, as they were both betrayed by him. Taichi (2 pts.) will battle David Finlay (2 pts.). A first-time-ever singles encounter between two young stars, Ryohei Oiwa (2 pts.) and Callum Newman (2pts.), is also slated.

Additionally, we will see if Gabe Kidd is cleared to compete in tag team action after announcing that he hyperextended his knee on day two.
