WWE Raw Results – The Road to July’s PLEs

As promised, Raw opened with Rhea Ripley, who welcomed us to Monday Night Mami. Before Ripley could say more though, Raw Women’s Champion IYO SKY made her triumphant entrance. SKY reminded fans and Ripley that you can’t have Evolution without her. Unlike Ripley, it’s SKY who is on top. SKY told Ripley that Adam Pearce told her she could pick whoever she wanted to defend her world title against and SKY was out there to let everyone know she picked Ripley. SKY said she wants to defend her title against the best and to her, that means a rematch with the former champ. Ripley accepted, noting her respect for SKY. Ripley said she’d do whatever it took to get her title back. She wanted SKY to know that whatever happens at Evolution II, well she asked for it.

Up next, we’re backstage in everyone’s favorite clubhouse as Dominik Mysterio is hyping up Finn Balor and JD McDonagh before their tag team match. As Balor and McDonagh leave, AJ Styles arrives. Mysterio hands Styles a bonafide doctor’s note promising his injury is real and has been approved by Pearce himself. Mysterio said Styles isn’t allowed to put a hand on him until he’s cleared. If he does, Styles will never get his IC title shot. Styles puts on his readers, takes the note and reads it himself. It says Mysterio is a punk. Mysterio and Styles trade barbs back and forth before Styles promises to kick Mysterio’s ass…after he’s cleared.

Bayley is being interviewed backstage and she doesn’t hide her feelings about Lyra Valkyria sticking her nose in her business yet again. Valkyria rolls up to tell Bayley she hasn’t answered Valkyria’s messages but here she is talking about her behind her back. Bayley complains that Valkyria once again is getting in her business. Valkyria tells Bayley this isn’t personal but it is personal between her and Becky Lynch. Bayley says the same, noting how Lynch is the reason Bayley missed partnering with Valkyria at WrestleMania. The two go back and forth until Adam Pearce shows up to settle it once and for all. Tonight, there will be a match and the winner will be the #1 contender for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

A Goldberg video package highlighting the Streak airs before we see Adam Pearce talking to American Made. Pearce wishes Chad Gable good luck in his surgery and jokes that this must mean we won’t be seeing El Grande Americano for a while either. Gable says Americano is a busy man as one of the top luchadors in the world but…you never know. American Made lament how they will get by without Gable, who once again tasks them with winning titles. He tells the Creeds to listen to Ivy Nile as she’s in charge while he’s gone.

We see Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis chatting as Finn Balor and JD McDonagh roll up. Balor wants to pre-empt any discussion on what to do with the women’s tag team titles by proposing an idea. Balor says it’s not fair to strip Raquel Rodriguez so she should get a new partner and he knows just who, Roxanne Perez. Pearce and Aldis confer and agree that Perez can step in as one half of the champs on one condition. Her and Rodriguez will defend the titles against a team from Raw, a team from SmackDown, and a team from NXT at Evolution II.

Rusev vs Sheamus – Rusev taps Sheamus out to the Accolade

Jackie Redmond is backstage with American Made where Ivy Nile is talking about the women’s Evolution battle royal which was confirmed earlier today. Before Redmond could continue the interview, El Grande Americano appeared on scene, seeming to surprise Nile, the Creeds, and Redmond. He nodded at American Made and then walked away. Redmond tried to ask Nile about it but American Made offered no comment.

Redmond notes she plans to follow up on that but then sees Sami Zayn and begins to interview him. Before they can get anywhere however Zayn is brutally attacked by Karrion Kross who demands he tell the truth and admit he’s a liar. Kross shoves a lead pipe into Zayn’s ribs but backs off as referees and producers go to tend to Zayn.

Gunther Addresses Goldberg and a Brawl Ensues

Gunther hits the ring and is immediately greeted with “you tapped out” chants, which don’t seem to have the same effect on him now that’s once again the world champion. Gunther is out there to address Bill Goldberg, which sidenote, in referring to him with his full name, Gunther seems to be stripping the man of some of his mystique. Anyway, Gunther reacts to the Goldberg highlight reel, which seems to have aired in part so Gunther could react to it. So good on him. Gunther said he had to admit he was impressed as the reel showed Gunther at his absolute best – violent, destructive, brutal. It is true that Gunther has left a mark on all of his opponents, but much like his matches, the highlight reel was over in just about three minutes. Gunther says he sees what’s left of Bill Goldberg and that guy is not someone he’s afraid to get in the ring with. Gunther says he could beat Goldberg in three minutes but that’s not his goal. He wants to take his time, force Goldberg to work, and show the world he can outclass him, outwrestle him, and embarrass him in front of all his friends and family. Goldberg wants this to be his retirement match, well Gunther says he’s not having one last hurrah at the Ring General’s expense. At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Gunther promises to bully Goldberg and treat him like a piece of crap. There’s nothing the man can do about it. And when Gunther has had his fun, it will be up to him to ask the question, “who’s next?”

Cue Burn it Down as Seth Rollins, accompanied by his Oracle, enter the conversation. Rollins says he’s out there to congratulate Gunther, who teases that Rollins traveled a long way to Saudi Arabia just to accomplish nothing. Rollins says Gunther hasn’t been paying attention. He didn’t go to Saudi Arabia to cash in on John Cena. He went to keep a promise that as long as there is breath in his body, CM Punk will never be world champion. Rollins makes it clear this isn’t about Gunther but does add that when he won the briefcase and envisioned his plan, that he promised an all out assault on both world titles. So congrats again, champ, Rollins adds before…

Look into my eyes…Punk is not happy. He runs down the ramp and he and Rollins immediately start brawling in the center of the ring. Punk gets the upperhand as Rollins retreats and Punk yells out that he’s a coward. Frustrated, Punk shoves Gunther and tells him to stay out of his way. As Rollins taunts in the crowd, LA Knight appears behind him and those two begin brawling through the crowd backstage onto the concourse.

We head back to the clubhouse where Finn Balor is absolutely giddy. Roxanne Perez is admiring her new belt as Raquel Rodriguez arrives asking if that’s it and they are just going to replace Liv Morgan so soon. Balor promises that’s not the case but he knows how intensive a shoulder injury can be. Morgan won’t be back anytime soon so this was just about making sure Rodriquez could stay champ. She reluctantly goes with it as Balor calls for a vote to see if Perez should be the newest member of Judgment Day. Him and JD McDonagh are quick yesses but Dominik Mysterio says he needs to talk to Morgan. Balor tells him he can make his own decision, make Liv proud. Dom says he’s an alleged yes for whatever that means. Rodriguez is last and she reluctantly says yes as long as Perez can keep up her end of the bargain. The group all cheers their titles as Perez says she’s going to do whatever the group needs, starting with getting revenge on Kairi Sane for injuring Morgan. Balor says Morgan is going to love this when he…and the rest of us all know she absolutely will not.

Bayley vs Lyra Valkyria – ends in a draw when both Valkyria and Bayley’s shoulders are down

Jackie Redmond is backstage with CM Punk, who is incensed. He says Rollins’ knees haven’t worked that well in years given how quickly he high-tailed it out of there. Punk says he’s got receipts for Rollins, Paul Heyman, Bron-Bron, and anyone else who wants to get in his way…and speaking of that, Punk sees LA Knight and acknowledges that he’s got issues with Rollins too but Knight needs to go to the back of the line. Knight says Punk can have Rollins six days a week but at Saturday Night’s Main Event it’s Punk who is going to the back of the line.

Finally, we see medics taping up Zayn’s midsection as Penta comes by. He asks if Zayn is still good and Zayn nods. They exchange Cero Miedos and we follow Zayn as he makes his way through gorilla.

But first, a commercial. Back from commercial, we’re still in gorilla with Paul Heyman and Bronson Reed. Reed asks where Rollins is and Heyman says he’s working on Plan B. Bron Breakker arrives and saying Plan B starts tonight when they destroy Zayn and Penta.
