The Judgment Day is fine. Better than fine, actually. On Monday night, JD McDonagh returned for the first time since suffering a brutal injury nearly three months ago. McDonagh helped Dominik Mysterio retain his newly won Intercontinental Championship much to the confusion of his mate Finn Balor, who seemed a little hesitant about the Judgment Day reunion.
JD McDonagh Costs Penta his Rematch
There’s no rest for the wicked as both Dominik Mysterio and Penta were back in action one night after the Intercontinental Championship 4-way on Night Two of WrestleMania 41. The two were involved in a relatively clean match, though Finn Balor and Carlito were ringside. But for the most part, Mysterio was doing his own thing and holding his own until the finish. Balor took an accidental bump which gave Penta the edge. It seemed like the luchador was about to claim victory when JD McDonagh made his surprising return. McDonagh took out Penta allowing Mysterio the opportunity to hit the frog splash for the win.
Afterwards, Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh shared a warm embrace as Carlito joined in ring to welcome back Judgment Day’s youngest member. All the while, Balor, the one who McDonagh was arguably closest to, seemed a little surprised and confused by the return of his former tag team partner. Balor remained on the outside as Mysterio, McDonagh, and Carlito celebrated in ring. As the celebration headed up the ramp, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, with their newly won tag titles, joined in as Judgment Day was at full strength for the first time in months. And the vibes seemed great among most of the members. Balor lagged a little behind but finally joined his stablemates, though not sharing the same level of joy. Whether it was McDonagh’s unexpected return or Balor’s loss to Mysterio, the former world champ definitely looked a little hesitant standing alongside an otherwise happy looking family.

It seems the stage is being set not for a Judgment Day breakup as was expected, but rather Balor turning face and leaving the group. The question then is, would JD McDonagh join his fellow Irishman or would Balor suffer the same fate as Lyra Valkyria, being turned on by his countryman and former friend? McDonagh’s return certainly adds a new wrinkle to the ongoing Judgment Day saga. We will have to see what next week brings in the clubhouse.
