Preview: AEW Collision (3/22/25) – Slam Dunk Saturday

If it wasn’t obvious already, AEW is putting in the effort to make Saturday night’s Collision count. Split into two one-hour segments over the weekend, each episode will perhaps look to borrow from Rampage’s mantra as the fastest hour in wrestling.

Each show benefits, like Grand Slam Australia, from another big sports-related lead-in. Slam Dunk Saturday offers four interesting contests. Across both nights, we are getting range. Saturday features a title match, a series decider, an ass-whooping, and a signature AEW multi-man.

Konosuke Takeshita, alongside The Murder Machines, may serve up a platter of beef, chicken, and sugar. Will Max Caster be able to get a chant of “Let’s go, Max, you’re the best wrestler alive?”

‘Cause Saturday night’s alright, alright, alright, ohh!

Matches Announced for AEW Collision:

  • Julia Hart vs. Queen Aminata 3.
  • Konosuke Takeshita and The Murder Machines vs. Powerhouse Hobbs, Mark Briscoe and Rocky Romero
  • Best Wrestler Alive, Max Caster Open Challenge
  • TNT Championship: Daniel Garcia © vs. Adam Cole

Hart vs. Aminata 3:

Spike took a bite out of Jon Moxley Wednesday; Saturday we could see a woman decapitated. That almost happened to Julia Hart during her second-round match with Queen Aminata. Aminata’s strike was surgical. This rivalry between two of AEW’s youngest female stars was an absolutely sick-sounding and hard-hitting treat. The second match topped the first. There are big expectations for the third.

For Hart, getting to compete in a trilogy prior to requesting a third match with Jamie Hayter would give the former princess momentum. However, Aminata cannot be underestimated. Especially with support- it seems- from The Professor, Serena Deeb. Is an alliance forming?

Thinking more broadly, whoever wins puts themselves in a strong position, perhaps for a title shot down the line. This is a hard-to-call match. Both women have merit and reason to win. Conversely, what if this match leads to a fourth encounter?

TNT Championship:

Weeks ago, Daniel Garcia and Adam Cole’s first clash over-delivered. Expectations were uncertain. The match has aided the rehabilitation of Adam Cole as a singles wrestler. Does the former world champion need a belt around his waist to prove he can still go? It feels like Garcia’s match to lose.

Despite hanging with Cole last time, the interference of Shane Taylor Promotions left a huge question mark over Red Death. Garcia wants to be a fighting champion, yet there were moments where Cole’s wily veteran experience looked to usurp the young workhorse. Contrastingly, Garcia showed in-ring acumen greater than his years. Beating Cole would be a huge scalp for Garcia’s collection. At the same time, can Cole afford to lose?

This time, there is no potential of run-ins or interference. It’s veteran against upstart. The stakes go beyond the championship. After their first encounter, how far is each man willing to push themselves? How much pain can each endure before hitting the breaking point? For Garcia, this is either the end or turning point of his title reign.

Given the teases of FTR turning heel, could Garcia be joining them?
