Preview: GCW Homecoming (8/20/23) – Night Two

GCW Homecoming - Night Two match graphic.

If one night of GCW Homecoming wasn’t enough for you, you’re in luck. GCW returns on Sunday, August 20th for a second helping of destruction in Atlantic City and features a few competitors that weren’t featured during night one. With that said, let’s take a look at the overwhelmingly awesome card that is GCW Homecoming Night Two!

  • Blake Christian (c) vs. Masha Slamovich – GCW World Title Match

Over the past months, Blake Christian has made more enemies than friends, Masha Slamovich being one of those enemies. After taking the title from Masha in April at Cage of Survival 2, Christian has had successful wins over MAO, Mike Bailey, and Chris Bey, to name a few.

Masha is looking for some revenge as well as an opportunity to become a two-time GCW World Champion though. One can expect Christian to use some questionable tactics to retain, but Masha is aware of what this fight means and who the GCW fans will be behind.

  • Dragon Kid vs. Komander

This matchup is the first time ever bout in the confines of a GCW ring. Dragon Kid looks to make his debut and Komander has his sights set on handing Dragon Kid his debut loss. The potential for unseen aerial attacks is high given the agility of both competitors in this matchup. Seeing this bout in writing cannot due justice to the potential jaw-dropping maneuvers.

  • Maki Itoh vs. B3CCA

Maki Itoh returns for night two of GCW Homecoming to square off against the rising star that is B3CCA. Both bring a unique style to the fight, but Itoh also brings her confidence that Nick Gage will have her back.

B3CCA is quickly becoming a favorite across the many promotions she works for and is no stranger to fighting against the odds. B3CCA has managed wins against GCW vets Jimmy Lloyd, Marcus Mathers, and Janai Kai this year. This fight has the potential to be the sleeper match of the night, so wake up!

  • The East-West Express (Jordan Oliver & Nick Wayne) (c) vs. TBD & Takashi Sasaki – GCW Tag Team Title Match

The East-West Express looks to continue to run through opponents and the team of Takashi Sasaki and his unannounced partner. As Nick Wayne becomes more heavily involved in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), there’s potential for some interesting crossover if East West Express retains.

Otherwise, look for the tag titles to go the international route and see overseas defenses in the coming months. This looks to be a great matchup with a lot of unknowns.

  • Dante Leon & Ninja Mack vs. Alec Price & Cole Radrick – Tag Team Match

Wow. Talk about a match that brings everything one can love about pro wrestling and this is the result. Dante Leon and Ninja Mack are synonymous with crazy death-defying maneuvers and Alec Price and Cole Radrick can match that talent with innovative and technical stylings. If you are looking for the perfect hybrid matchup of the night, look no further.

  • Rina Yamashita (c) vs. Violento Jack – GCW Ultraviolent Title Match

Both Rina Yamashita and Violento Jack will be coming off intense fights from night one, only to stand across from each other on night two. Though there is no guarantee this will be a title fight, it’s difficult to doubt Yamashita’s tenacity when it comes to title defenses. Jack, however, might only allow that reign to be extended an additional night. Regardless of the outcome of this matchup, both competitors will be left bloodied and the fans left satisfied.

If you can’t be in Atlantic City this weekend to bear witness to the greatness that is GCW, FITE TV has it available through their premium service FITE Plus. There is no doubt that there will be plenty of butts in seats as well as viewers on streams. Look for this weekend’s event to potentially feature a build to the following weekend’s events as GCW will be returning to Chicago with the debut of former WCW talent Lash Larou!
