New Roku Docuseries ‘Recruits’ To Find Next WWE Star

John Cena WWE Raw Card

Streaming service Roku’s latest show will find the next WWE superstar.

WWE: Recruits will follow a group of men and women as they undergo the “grueling training” needed to make their dreams of WWE stardom come true.

Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Big E, Bianca Bel Air and Ric Flair are among the WWE talent that will appear in the show. Filming commenced during WrestleMania 39 this past weekend (April 1 & 2, 2023).

John Cena To Executive Produce Roku Recruits

John Cena will also appear on the show, as well as serving as executive producer.

Cena took a break from appearing in every video game to say he was “looking forward” for fans seeing how “WWE turns the dreams of talented young people into a reality”

Millions around the world watch and dream of it, but only a handful of extraordinary individuals can become a WWE Superstar,” he added.

Cena is the cover star of WWE 2K23 and also a playable character in PGA Tour 2K23

Little is known about EA Sports FC but at this rate it’s a safe bet Cena will be in the game.

Thousands of Recruits Narrowed Down

Thousands of pro wrestling hopefuls will be narrowed down to a group of candidates to find the latest WWE recruit. The eight-part docuseries also promises to follow the life-changing moments they go through.

Sean Boyle, Head of Adventure and Exploration Programming at Roku Originals said they were “excited to work with the icon himself, John Cena”.

“Roku Original series ‘WWE: Recruits’ not only unpacks how the WWE transforms unknown athletes into world-renowned stars, but also invites audiences into the lives of an unforgettable group of young people chasing their ultimate dream,” he added

It is the first WWE recruitment-style series since the 2015 season of Tough Enough, which sparked the careers of Mandy Rose, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville.

Arthur Smith, CEO & Chairman of A. Smith & Co. Productions said: “The journey begins here for the next generation of future WWE hopefuls to win a once-in-a-lifetime contract, giving them a platform to shine like never before. In our first time ever partnering with The Roku Channel and WWE, being the star makers they are, ‘WWE: Recruits’ (wt) is set to be television at its best with the best.
